I just picked up my 08 CRM convertable the other day and was a little surprised that there was only one NAV disk. I had heard that the 08s had two disks? Can anyone confirm if there should have been one or two disks?

Thanks,
That's odd, I just received the last of my 2 free updates and I received p/n 25852830 and it contains TWO DVD's, one for the east coast and the other for the west coast. And from my one day of use it seems to show much more granularity than my old single 07 DVD.
To: Dealer Principals, General Managers, Sales Managers, Service Managers (Chevrolet, Pontiac, GMC, Buick, Saturn, and Cadillac)
Subject: Change in the GM Nav Disc Update Program
Models: All 2008 models with factory-installed, in-vehicle navigation -- either standard or optional (Cadillac CTS, SRX, STS, XLR, Escalade, Escalade EXT, Escalade ESV – Hummer H2 and H3 – Buick Lucerne and Enclave – Pontiac Grand Prix and Torrent – Saturn Outlook and Relay – GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL, Envoy, and Acadia – Chevy Silverado, Avalanche, Tahoe, Suburban, Trailblazer, Equinox, Uplander, and Corvette)
The purpose of this bulletin is to inform GM dealers and dealership personnel of a change to the GM Nav Disc Update Program. The program previously included two free DVD map updates for customers who purchased a GM vehicle with a factory navigation system, installed when the vehicle was built.
The program has been modified for the 2008 model year and beyond. Free DVD map updates are no longer included. This does not affect the original DVD map disc which is provided with the new vehicle. This also does not affect the owners of 2006 and 2007 model year vehicles with factory in-vehicle navigation. Those owners are still eligible to obtain a free update or updates.
DVD map updates will continue to be offered by the GM Nav Disc Center. The data on the DVD map disc ages at a rate of 15-20% per year. As the data ages, the functionality of the navigation system declines. The DVD map updates are available annually at the beginning of the new model year. The updates are currently priced at $199 + shipping.
The GM Nav Disc Center can be contacted for both disc orders or for assistance with nav system operation. Order discs via the website, www.gmnavdisc.com, or by phone, 1-877-NAV-DISC (1-877-628-3472). Contact information for the Center is also included in the Navigation Owner's Manual Supplement (in the glovebox) and on the face of the DVD disc included with the new vehicle.
Any feedback on this program change should be provided to your Field Sales or Service contacts.
The entire USA and Canada are on one DVD and you get two free updates from the General...unlike us '05 owners...
Nope....the new nav discs are a 2 disc set, and 08 owners do not get free updates. Sounds like they put the now-old disc in the car to ship it. The Version 3.0 discs were only 1 disc, but the newest 4.0 (just shipping now) are 2 discs. They starting splitting the national coverage to accomodate future additions of data - they were running out of room on 1 disc.
Just got my update this morning. Can't believe it, the nav will now take me to my house instead of getting me to within a half mile and NavBitch announces "It's over there somewhere. You're on your own and good luck." Wonder if they've figured out how to eliminate the "Continue driving straight" when you're on an interstate ten miles from any exit. Still think my $300 Garmin is more user friendly and more accurate.

Thanks,
I just received my 2 disk update. When I spoke with the GM Nav update center they said the 2 disk version is for model year 2008. I believe you have a strong case to argue that you got the 2007 version. You should be able to get the 2008 version without charge since you indicated yours was a 2008 model.
The Nav DVD has more accurate information than the single disk 2007 version. I was able to find a restaurant in Carlisle not listed in the old disk.
My 08 came with two discs. This nav system continues to confound me with how poor it is in relation to othern navs I currently own. It's not user friendly, now it needs two discs, I have had a 05 and now an 08 - the only two years that don't get free upgrades. And today it irritated me again. I zoomed out to a 1 mile range, and the state road I was on dissapeared - and there were no other roads on the screen! How does that happen?!

Hey Bruce,
Edit - Assuming that your 07' came with V.3 like mine, did they give you a hard time about the update?

I do the opposite, when I ZOOM in say 1/16 or 1/32 suddenly streets/roads that were not visible show up. I'm guessing it has to do with the size of the display. I run mine at 1/32 in town and 1/4 to 1/2 mile on the highway.
BTW I see vast improvements in my local area in terms of one and two year old streets/businesses now displaying that were missing from the 07 disc.
