Default Need advice with CAT-Back system

I am wanting to replace my factory exhaust. I am looking for a deep rumble. Not a loud crackle. I have toyed with Borla Sports or Stingers. There are so may part #'s and different exhaust. Do I want the X pipe with it or just the mufflers? Is there a better brand or one that sounds deeper then Borla.

I would like it if someone could point me in the write direction. Maybe even where to buy. Thanks alot.

I have Borla.

Borla, BB Bullets, GHLs, and SLPs will all give you the sound you want.

You don't need the "X" pipe. $300 for 3-5 RHWP. Plus if you get headers down the road you'll have to get the Header's make of the "X" pipe. Why pay twice?

PS - I recommend that you go hear them in person before you plunk down a Grand for a pig in a poke.

Vette meets or a place like Carisle are excellent places to do an "up close & personal" test.

You would do well to search thru the Forum archives. There has been a ton of discussion here about C6 cat backs and a wealth on info awaits at the touch of your fingertips. Good luck with your decision.

could not agree more, had I done this I would have saved some money on the GHL's I took off, sound geat at idle and acceleration but way too much drone when cruising.

Depends on how loud you want to go and your tolerance for in-cabin drone on the highway. In my opinion, the X-pipe is totally unnecessary regardless of brand and skipping that will save you $300-ish. I am very happy with my Magnaflow axle-back system which is very deep but not very loud at all and no drone. BB Route 66 are probably next on the deep systems loudness/drone scale, followed by Borla Cruising, GHL, Flowmaster, Borla Sports and lastly BB Bullets, which are quite loud and drone heavily. If you are interested in Magnaflows, PM me and I'll give you the place where I found the best deal. Good luck.

Default Cat Backs

Recently replaced factory pipes on my stock 2003, A4 with Borla Stingers. Perfect! Now it sounds like a vette should(in my humble opinion). Not too loud;but not milk toast either. I was so pleased that I purchased a set for my 2005, M6. Whoever suggested that you listen to them first gave you solid, good advice. It's a very personal, subjective thing. Good luck.

Default CORSA's

I went with the CORSA EXTREME's. It's a new model from Corsa with a 3/3/2 rating on noise. It sounds MEAN at idle and accelleration and smoothe and soothing at cruise.

Best of luck deciding. I bought mine at MID AMERICSA MOTORWORKS AND GOT FREE SHIPPING!!!!

You can go on youtube and listen to several exahust systems. The SLP Loudmouths sound the deepest and closest to the old muscle car sound too me. I just need to hear them in person to decide if they are too loud for me.

Good advice above. We have Borlas and really like them. BTW, the 08 cars have a factory x-pipe; no need to buy extra.

The real question is how much drone can you stand. Borlas touring gave me the best option with only slight drone and a very deep sound. You REALLY should go to a Corvette club meet and listen before you buy. I went through several sets and took a loss on each one.

Thanks guys for all you advice. I don't drive my car far and just kind of cruise around my little town. So it sounds like the Borla Stingers are the way to go. I did hear a few on youtube and got very excited.

Let me re-phrase. Borla TOURING were within my drone limits. The stingers are really loud.

Go with the Flowmasters. You can search youtube and find a clip of them on a C6 to see how they sound. You can find the Flowmaster cat back system for around 3-400 dollars on the internet. All the other ones are about a grand or more.

We have Borla Stinger Sports without the X-pipe and LOVE them. Where are you located ? The X-pipe just smooths out the exhaust so you don't get the "burble" when you lift off the gas. Personally I love that sound. If you are close I'm sure my hubby would be happy to take you for a ride so you can hear them.

didn't even realize you said you wanted deeper than borla. The BB's are deeper but again you will pay with drone.

Nice job on aligning your Corsa Tips! Maybe its easier on the Xtremes than the Sports
