Default First World Frustrations....

Today was Corvette Day; down to Olympia, WA for an oil change but before that an alignment......and another alignment.........and another alignment.......and the steering wheel is still about 10 degrees to the right(which drives me nuts)....will be going back to the Goodyear Factory Store tomorrow morning at 8:00 so they "can put a different tech on the alignment machine." I drove it, they drove it (said it was "good to go") and he said it was due to having a flat bottom wheel which shifted in the holder.....

Don't get me wrong, they're good people, hardworking but hanging out at a GY Store in Fife, WA is not my idea of fun......

I went to that same store a couple years back to buy two supercar tires for my '05 vette. They told me they did not have anyone trained to service runflat tires. That was enough for me.

They've installed two sets of tires and aligned it before just fine.....give 'em one more shot tomorrow.

Any suggestions sir?

Unfortunately, not. I've had cars and my p/u done at Les Schwab in Fife but I don't know how state of the art their equipment is.
If you're up for a road trip I can recommend O'REILLY Chev in Tucson...

I can't offer any advice, but do have a horrible First World Problem:

Today my car sat in the sun (has a smoked top) for about an hour; it was about 70 outside. When I got in and started it, the AC comes on full blast (I have it on Auto). The fan is too loud when it runs full blast. I could take it off Auto but that requires pushing a button and I don't want to.

This sucks. I'm at my wit's end trying to overcome this most unfair burden I have to carry.

I agree. I would file a claim with GM for hearing loss...

when i had my alignment done I brought in the PFADT alignment sheet for them to go by. It doesn't get any more clear cut than that. And if they screw that up that should tell you to move on to someone that knows what they're doing.

I was going to do the same thing last summer, but never did. Gotta do it soon, although the dealer aligned it when I bought it -- for whatever that is worth. Probably not much, which is why I'd like to have it done by a local alignment shop (has a great reputation).

So my question for Old Billy is: Is PFADT pronounced "fat"?

Flat bottom steering wheel? Sounds aftermarket? If so,this may be the problem.

If their steering wheel tool will not hold the wheel straight when aligning the car, they just need to put someone in the driver's seat to hold the wheel straight while the alignment is made. How hard is that?

Obviously it's an acronym, not a word, but I would pronounce it "PIH-FAT."

I think in this case the "p" would be silent. jmh, and I'm sticking to it.

IN the old days (as I recall) if an alignment left the steering wheel out of whack, you simply popped the steering wheel off its taper, re-positioned it and tightened it back down.

It doesn't work like that anymore?

So you're agreeing with my original guess of just "FAT"?

It's pronounced like "f-ahh-t." Kind of like saying "fart" with a British accent.

Haha, okay, like "FOTT," rhymes with "not."

I hate going into uncharted waters sounding dumb, and I need all the help I can get.
