My 17yo and I are going to Carlisle with our '07 for the first time. We were wondering what we should/could or allowed to bring with us to make the experience more enjoyable.
We assumed chairs, sunsreen and umbrellas; but what about a 10'x10' canopy or other ideas?
Thanks for the help!

I don't take anything. There are hundreds of merchant tents, they all would like you to come in from the sun. Plenty of food and drink available. Comfortable, walking shoes would be good. The first time I attended I went with a person who was in to Corvettes and we had a great time. Last year I went with someone who could care less about Vettes. This was a mistake as I felt rushed and only spent a couple of hours there. This year I'm going solo and may go up on two of the three days. It's an easy drive for us Marylanders. Have fun-- eddie

i've been there 19 out of the last 20 years. i personally don't take chairs, umbrellas, a canopy, or whatever. to be honest, you won't have much time to sit. there's way to much to see and do. one thing i do is take a cooler with bottled water. that stuff sells at a premium - ya know, the corvette tax. if you want to sit and take a break, there's always the grandstand. one thing you must do, is take lots of $$$. you'll be like a kid in a toy store. my 08 is on its way, and i've already got my shopping list -
When you arrive, you will see the magnitude of the event...posts don't do it justice. When you get your info packet, take a look at all the events and vendors, then check the map of the fairgrounds and develop a plan of what you want to see and do. Pace yourself and take plenty of breaks as it can be overwhelming, particularly in the August heat. As noted above, bring plenty of dollars....there are candy stores and then there is this candy store! One final piece of advice is to participate in the Saturday night parade...sign up early as they limit it to about 500 cars...what a great event. Have fun!
I've been to the last three Corvettes at Carlisle and may take my C6 this year if I feel like getting into the Saturday Evening Corvette Parade thru town. Otherwise I'm taking my Buick to load up on goodies. If you get to Carlisle real early (<07:00) on Saturday and hang outside Gate #3 entrance, you can have a front row seat on a stone wall to watch all the people in their Vettes arriving to park on the grounds. There is even food vendors (local schools and Boy Scouts, etc) along the street where you can buy breakfast sandwiches and coffee. Great experience talking to Corvette enthusiests, and taking it all in.
Like mentioned above, nothing is needed but a pocket full of cash! Bring two water bottles you can refill free under the grandstand. The food is reasonible and good. Oh, and a digital camera. I take at least 150 pictures, with probably 25 of the Beauty Contest alone.
