Saw something posted awhile back about this but can't find it in a search. Are there two different allignment specs for the C6? One for more conservative drivers like myself? If I get it alligned at a dealer and ask for this should they know about it? Thanks.
My '92 used to wonder around in the truck grooves but I took it to the dealer which had a very knowledgeable tech. He asked me how I would like the car to steer. I told him I like a car to go in a straight line and not react to quickly to steering movement. The first time I drove the Vette after the alignment I fell in love with it all over. Later I broke a side wall in a tire which caused the Vette to start pulling to the left so I took it to an alignment shop which put the alignment back to stock spec. I later replaced the tire but when I drive the Vette it now reacts too quickly to slight steering movement and I have a hard time keeping it in a straight line down the interstate.
I guess th moral to the story is find a good alignment tech and just tell him how you want it to drive.
Unless you know the alignment tech at the Dealer DO NOT have the Dealer align your car. The factory specs have such a broad + or - allowance that the car can be in spec but not aligned. The tech is on a strict time schedule (time allowance by the book for an alignment) and is more interested in the speed of the alignment.
Take the car to an experienced Independent shop and tell them what kind of driving you will be doing, they will suggest specs for you car . I ended up with factory specs exactly, no + or - and am convinced that the $100 was well spent.
