Not much information here. Year? Mods? Generally I'd start with the Fuel cap though. If you have the onstar, push it and ask them why the lights on. They'll give you a general idea. Good luck

Hi,
its a stock 05, no onstar im afraid, i'm in australia. i the light could be on from low oil so i tchanged it and reset the oil life gauge but that didnt fix it.
otherwise the car runs fine, absolutley no problems, im not even sure though if the hard starting ( cranking over 6 seconds without starting ) and the engine light are related or not.

Reason: bad spelling
Is this still the original battery? It may simply be time to replace it. How many miles on the car. How often do you drive it and for how long. Has the battery ever gone dead?

yep original battery, it has been flat before when it sat for a couple of weeks not used, however its fully charged now and the starter motor cranks over really quickly. the car has 15,000 miles. i'm pretty sure the battery is ok.
do you know if the engine light being constantly on could have any relevance?
oh and it gets driven about once a week. both problems started about a month ago for no apparent reason. the car was converted to right hand drive about 6 months ago after i owned it in CA for about a year and has been faultless until these two problems.

Yes, the check engine light could be relevant. Usually a CEL indicates an issue with the emissions system and could be an air leak which could contribute to hard starting. If you can get your hands on a code scanner and post back with what codes it comes up with I'm sure someone here could help you diagnose it. Otherwise, it may be time for a trip to the dealer.
the local dealer here wont scan it because they are afraid to hook it up to their machine, we have a similar car here that uses the C6 engine ( HSV GTS ) but as its a corvette they are worried the computer may de a little different and it could screw up.
