Default 2008 remote

Can someone post a pic of the 2007 and 2008 key fob? I have heard about the hidden key, but never seen one.

The 2008 key fob is not the same as the 2007 key fob. It was intended for 2007, but didn't make it until 2008.

Thank you Sir!

Do you know what the cost is? If I do not have to carry a key banging around on a chain that would make me very happy. Will the 08 work with 07 ignitions?

The 2008 fob/key will work with the 2007s. It will not work with the lock cylinder on the rear hatch for 2006 and 2005 C6s. I do not remember what the price is, but I think several here have purchased one. Maybe one of them will chime in.

Hi All,

I'd like to announce that I will again be bringing you another much wanted item before any other. Next week I will be receiving 29 sets of 2008 key FOB's. GM Parts House will be the only dealer in the entire United States with these FOB's, but not for long I'm sure.

Here is what I do know and the information I can give you. I have no information in my hands that tells me they will work on any other year. From previous information that was released from others, it is possible. The rest of the info I've figured out on my own.

First, I do not and will not cut any keys as GM's policies are very strict and my policies are very strict as well. I believe I have found an alternative to the key situation anyway.

You can purchase an 08 rear compartment lock cylinder with key(s) for a little over 130. The keys that come with the lock are coded to that lock cylinder, so that takes care of that.

The glove box lock is the same from 05-08. To get this to be coded to the new key(s) you can have the local dealer recode that cylinder.

I have also copied and uploaded the program procedure without having to use a scan tool.

The actual door lock assemblies are the same for 05-08 so you should be fine there. It's just up to the programming and taking care of the glove box and rear compartment lock cylinders if you wish.

Currently I will only have 29 sets to sell and will sell to the first 29 customers to put in an order. Please, at this time, only place the order in sets... meaning FOB's #1 and #2. If you wish to have 4 FOB's total I will accept orders for 2 of each.

If you'd like to order them it is fairly easy. Go to the front page at www.gmpartshouse.com. Click where it says click here to enter part number search. Use the following part numbers and be sure to use Chevrolet make.

08fob1 - #1 key fob - 91.20
08fob2 - #2 key fob - 91.20

If you wish to order the rear compartment lock cylinder with keys use the following part numbers and be sure to use Chevrolet make.

25865471 - 132.52 (Coupes only)
25865472 - 138.17 (Convertibles & Z06's)

The programming procedure can be found below...

http://www.gmpartshouse.com/installd...fobprogram.pdf

Remember that GM Parts House is bringing these to you first. I do not have any other information at this time. Again, I will not accept single orders of only 1 FOB at this time due to others wanting to have 2.

Thanks, Gene

I do not want 2, but if anyone in Canada wants to split a set with me, I will do that. Is that ok?

I tried to use your link to place an order for the key fobs, however it doesn't appear to work. I enter the part numbers for the fobs but nothing happens. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

Gene, I just measured the glove compartment pocket on my 2007 where the the new 2008 would be inserted to train. it is 3/4 inch wide.

Is the new 2008 Fob 3/4 inch wide or less?

I have looked real hard at my 08' FOB last night and I notice the hidden key is just attached with a simple screw. The key appears to be the same key my 05' had with just the head cut off and a hole drilled for the screw. Unless the radio freq's are not the same, it looks like the FOB should work for at least the 07's.

**Note

I am only making assumptions and guesses. If you spend your money and it doesn't work, to bad for you as I assume no responsibility.

Well, as I posted that I will have some next week, I don't have one to measure. Maybe someone else can help with that.

We now have the key fobs in stock. You can purchase just 1 if you'd like!
