Default Burning MP3 CDs

I know this has been talked to death and I have read the posts with instructions on how to use Itunes and Nero. My question is: Can you burn an MP3 cd using the Windows software? I mean, can you drag and drop MP3s into folders in the "My Computer" display and hit burn? I have tried this and the CD won't play. When I use Itunes it works but I cannot subdivide the files into folders with Itunes.

I have a 2007 Vert with Nav. Thanks in advance.

I've used Sonic Record Now that came on Toshiba laptop to do mine. It lets me rename files, and put them into folders. I was disappointed that the folders show up as "folder 1, folder2, etc and not what I named them. I had named them by artist and grouped the appropriate songs in the appropriate folders, but all I get displayed is the folder # and the song title. So, I don't know if the folder thing is something you really want to trouble yourself with too much based on my outcome. Good luck though!

Using Roxio Easy CD Creator works well ... just drag the folders to the burn window. I can't figure out what the C6 does to the folders though because it doesn't seem to read them using the exact folder names I've burned the disks with.

If the C6 gets a song name more than 22 characters or if it has special characters it will screw up everything after that song. When I first burned an mp3 CD it was all botched up until I printed out from ITunes, the list I was burning and compared it to the list displayed on the C6 NAV.

No, the disk you get from Windows Explorer is a data disk and you need an MP3 disk. Microsoft tries to tell you they are the same thing but they aren't. Windows Media Player also won't burn MP3s though Microsoft says it will. That is until you find the right help screen -

How do I make a music or a video disc that will work in a CD or DVD player?
Use a music or video burning program to make playable discs. If you use Windows to copy music files to a disc, for example, they will be copied as files and will not play in most CD players.
I spend a lot of 4 letter words getting ITunes to do folders. My solution was to not allow ITunes to see any songs except the ones I was going to burn. I made my own set of folders on the computer and the same Playlists and then allowed it to copy a folder to a playlist one at a time. After many days I finally had one disk that worked. That was the end of my experiments with ITunes. It just wasn't worth all the effort compared to Nero that just uses the same directory structure you set up on the computer.

I got one MP3 disc to work on my C6 but the titles had to be less than 21 character without any symbols.

I just hit the XM radio butten instead and get to listen to a lot more selections than me making an MP3.
