I did the fronts and it came out great. I would defintely get a better brush than the one that comes with it. Oh yeah, paint over the lettering on the caliper. It comes off easy after it dries to reveal the Corvette underneath all shiny.
Can anyone share any experience with the Dupli-Color Caliper Paint Kit?
Budget is getting tight so I am considering this.
It works really well. Mine is over a year old and holding up nicely. I put chapstick on the letters and then painted over them. Then used a putty knife to scrape the paint off the letters.
I used it too. 3 coats of paint and then scraped the paint off the letters with a razor knife blade after it set for about 2 hours. I did the brackets and the calipers on mine.
All look great, and I see there isn't any visible rust on the inner part of your rotors, did you swap rotors out or clean up originals......if so how did you do to clean? and has anyone used the paint kit to paint the usually rusty ring? I hate the rust on mine and would prefer not to replace but clean them up. Thanks for any input.
I recently painted my front and rear calipers with the Duplicolor paint. Figured I couldn't go wrong with the $17 investment. I went to Orchards and bought a couple of cheap 1/2" paint brushes (better than the "brush" that came with the kit). Unbolt the two caliper mounting bolts and hang the caliper up with a coat hanger while you paint it. It took about 3-4 coats to cover evrything evenly. I painted over the lettering then dampen a rag with some thinner and wipe the paint off of the letters while the paint is tacking up. Took a few hours on a Sunday afternoon but was worth the work.

I don't know about xcutters but my vette is only a few months old and not a DD so no rust as of yet. I track it so I will probably go through rotors before they rust.

yes, you can paint the inner rusty part - use black engine enamel (shown at my web page).
I'd recommend using a metal primer (does not come with the Duplicolor kit). This may help the nuisance problem that the paint does eventually chip a bit. Primer seems to help a bit. You may need to touch up the calipers once or twice a year, and from 2 inches away, the finish will not look as good as true power-coated calipers, but we're talking about many hundreds of dollars in cost savings just for looks -- I say paint them yourself.
Most definiitely spend another $2 and get yourself a decent brush at the local hardware store. The one that comes with the Duplicolor kit SUCKS, man

Nice write up!
Has anyone else done this themselves and have pics?
I painted one front caliper with the Duplicolor Red kit on my Precision Red '05 and did not like the look. It was too light a red in contrast to the PR. So I carefully added some high temp black paint to a small sample to check compatability until it matched the PR of the car. Once satisfied with the out come I tinted the whole bottle. It came out a perfect match and still looks good after one year. The point of this is you don't have to be limited to the stock colors supplied by Duplicolor. Add some tint and really go custom. Purple even, if that's your choice
I used the Duplicolor on my C5 calipers and they turned out great. I would recommend that while doing this you take your rotors to a local Electro Plating company and have them Zinc washed. That will really clean up your wheel area and prevent any rust from forming (other than the firepath). I just had all four of the rotors on my C6 Zinc washed and it was only $40. Pretty good deal.

On the inner part of the rotors, I used Duplicolor hi-temp clear engine enamal, from the spray can. I did that when the car was new, and again last month when I painted the calipers. It looks like new. [of course I masked everything before spraying].

My rotors were swapped out for Brembo's. MY OEM Rotors squealed like a city bus.
Duplicolor worked great for me. I did not properly clean the calipers and had some flaking after a year or so, but then after a good cleaning and the paint covered well. I did not have to remove the first coat in places where it did not come up as the paint flows well and covers the areas smoothly. As was said above, get a better brush than comes with the kit and CLEAN CAREFULLY.
