I gave up on getting a cheap copy made of my key and got one at the dealer. $18 I then clamped it in a vise and heated up the plastic part with a heat gun until it was nice and soft. That made it very easy to cut it off. That gave me this result:
Then I taped that to the back of a business card. Now it slides nicely into my wallet behind my driver's license. Now I'll always have it in case of emergency.
A cheaper route and just as effective is going to your local locksmith or higher end hardware store and using a Saturn Blank or Blank # B106. This way you don't have to melt the plastic off the Corvette Blank. I have done the same thing with the CC.
I bought a b106 blank at my local True Value lock shop for $1.50. It does have the plastic on it like the factory key. They used a wire wheel on a grinder to remove the plastic to save me the trouble.
Works great.
Don't accidentally give out that business card!
I have the Saturn key that was put to the grinder so the head is the size of the circle around the Saturn for minimized wallet weight.
Nice. I like the idea of taping the key to a business card. Right now I carry three flat keys in my wallet (one for each of my three cars)... and they jangle around in there when I open my wallet... I'll be taping them to a business card tonight.
I carry the C6 hard key with my FOB at all times anyway (as shown) so I can quickly open the center console lock, glovebox lock, etc.

Evidently not, as wbear had one with the plastic head cover and mine didn't. The Blank needs to have the same (grooves) in it as your Corvette key, then it can be cut for your car. Also, I went to Walmart, and they had Saturn blanks, but not the one that will interchange with the 'vette.

The B106 is the one that fits the Vette and some Saturns I guess. If you specify a Hillman B106 you should get the right one.
It had the exact same plastic head as the factory one but didn't have the Chevy emblem on it.
Auto cub makes on that looks like a credit car if your a member.
I've had a couple of those. If they are still made out of plastic, they don't work very well unless your lock turns real easy with almost no resistance. My C6 rear lock isn't a real easy turner.
