Default Crystal Red Problems - Why Event Code Advances?

Just read another members posting that his Crystal Red Coupe order moved to event code 3400 today. My event code moved to 3000 today, yet my dealer says there is no listing of a TPW. If the Crystal Red is such a problem right now, why are the event codes advancing? Why can't my dealer tell me the TPW? Would the plant not provide a TPW if they are still having problems with Crystal Red?

Just as soon as I think I have this order process all figured out, I get confussed again!

Try verifying your event code through one of the forum dealers; they're usually pretty helpful.

My Crystal Red is on target for 9/10, ordered it on 8/2

As far as I understand it, there are no "new" orders being taken for CR right now....I could be wrong.

Last week while at the dealership, I had them pull up my order and sure enough there was the event code at 2500. I have no reason to believe the dealer is lying when he said the event code has advanced to 3000.

If any forum dealers read this posting, my Order No. is MDXNK7. Would you mind checking event code status and seeing if a TPW is listed? Thanks.

My Crystal Red is due out on Friday. Marriage is scheduled for 09/07/07 at 6:12AM. I received an update on that time this morning since I am doing the buyer's tour.

You lucky dog! Mine was ordered on 08/08. I hope it is built closer to Monday rather than Friday!

Last week 8/28 - 8/29 my order went from 1102 (Request) to;2500 then 3000 the next day it went to 3300 and the TPW was 9/17. If that sequence happens to yours you should go to 3300 tomorrow and tentively have a TPW of 9/24. But your dealer should tell you, if not go to Ken's newsletters section of this board and ask Ken to check he will give you status within a day.

I wish I had your date. The TPW for me is the 10th which means it can be anywhere between that Monday and Friday

The worse part is that the next payment on the GTO is due on the 24th... i'm hoping it arrives before then so I can get rid of her beforehand.

Wish all you guys would stop ordering the CR. Don't you know the paint can't be trusted? Cancel your orders! Let us poor fools who already own one suffer the consequences!

Just kidding. I love my CR and best I can tell the paint is perfect.

I ask a few questions and everyone takes off with their own conversations about their orders!

Can anyone answer what I originally asked?

Hey People, this "Red Crystal Metalic" is not a new color to GM. The Impala has had it for the last 2 years and they call it "Red Jewel Tintcoat". I am not sure but I think Chevrolet only charges $295 for the Impala verus $750 for the Corvette. The paint code for both these colors is 80U. I would think the Impala has more paint surface then the Corvette.

The paint code for the Crystal Red on a Corvette is 89U, so I would have to say that it IS NOT the same as the Red Jewel Tintcoat.

80U is the paint code for the discontinued Monterey Red color (aka Red Jewel Tintcoat), used on the Vettes for model years 2006 and 2007.

I will tell you what I know - hopefully it is accurate.

First of all - constraints that have been issued after your order was accepted do not concern you. So any discussion of a CR constraint does not impact your order in any way. My CR car is going to be finished Friday at 9:30 as an example.

At event code 3000, the TPW is not available - except as an educated guess based on previous orders. Even at 3100 the TPW on becomes "more stable". I don't believe my TPW was firmly established until my event code reached 3300.

I hope this helps. When you move to 3300 then you should be hearing of a firm TPW from your dealer.

I thank you much for the information. Was a little concerned as I have read other postings with people saying they knew the TPW at code 1100 and also at 2500. Maybe they were just guessing based on what they had been reading here. Guess I should not really be too worried since I have at least made it to event code 3000. Would think at this point things will pretty much keep moving forward at a slow but steady pace.
