if you don't know about the wave, and someone is waving at you in the same car, you don't have to be of above average intelligence to figure it out.
Well....I had a guy driving a farm tractor wave at me today. I have to tell you *alot* of people wave at Corvettes. We've had Harley riders give us their wave, almost any kid in the back seat of a car or school bus will wave at a Corvette. These cars get a lot of attention and obviously not just from fellow Corvette owners.
I wave when I have time to react or I see 'them' first. I do get waves from women as well as men. Sometimes the women even wave first. I've noticed that the majority of non-wavers are not paying attention or their attention is elsewhere. I also noticed that if I wave outside the car, I get their attention because of the motion and get a wave back.
Seems like the wave thing is slowly fadding away. Most dont wave back.
Guess it depends where you are/live.
In WI I'd have to say 80%+ of the time I wave or am waved at by other Vetters.
Of course there're a LOT of pistonheads 'round here, so those into Corvettes & Corvette lore know the ropes better than most.
If I wave & don't get one back?
The, "offender" is always gone before I've time to get miffed.
I was sitting at a red light coming home from work when a silver C6 pulls up next to me. It's a older guy with glasses , no tinted windows and his car was very dirty. The guy very slowly looks my way and turns his head back like a old grump and does not wave.
Anyway when my turn light goes green for my turn i just stick my arm out and wave like a crazy fool for a good 1500 yards.
Talk about a dead guy in a dirty C6!
I always try to wave, but there is the rare occasion when I don't see them until they passed already like if i'm changing my radio or something or looking at the Nav.
We should install a custom buzzer or alarm that will let us know when another Vette is approaching, so we can wave
Come to California! I drive a silver C6 and I am female and I always wave! I am out driving and loving every minute of it. If people don't wave back, I am still having a great time.

I disagree...I'll bet I get a 75% or better response...often, I'm the responder. The slanted windshield in the C5 and C6 makes a return wave hard to discern at times.
I've had about a 85% W.R. (wave rate) since driving mine. Also, have had one or two who looked directly my way and didn't. Then yesterday, I had three within 10 minutes wave big time. One was silver.
Guess the guy was not a Vette person. I saw a string of C6's this week, and got a wave from most. I only drive one mile to work, so i dont get much of a chance to wave.
You all should see how pitiful the Porsche wave is. You're lucky get a lifted finger off the steering wheel or a slight head nod.
I'm always happy to " lift a finger " and wave at a Porsche ! No , not that kind of finger wave ... one like this ... ...saying " don't even think about trying to outrun me ! "
I don't acknowledge car types. I am a friendly person, but I also don't feel moved to wave at people with red shirts just because I happen to be wearing one. Call me crazy.

A woman driving a Corvette & waving to me...now that makes my day when I see it!
