Does anyone know what the minimum ground clearance is on an 08 Z51 Coupe - no mods? I have speed bumps leading to my home and want to check them out before I get my car - if I am not too old to drive it by the time it comes in! Thanks -
I wonder the same question. I live in NYC and our roads are quite bumpy in places. I dont want to bottom out or scrape things on the front and back of the car. I travel over things with no problem with my jeep but I do wonder as I am driving if the same roads will be problematic for the vette.
On my '08 Z51 Coupe sitting in the garage on a nice level service, it's 2 3/8" to the bottom of the air dam. Somewhere I think I read/saw that the clearance is 4 1/2".
Thanks, Bearsden. The critical dimension we need is the clearance before damage is done - that is probably the 4-1/2" you mention. Has anyone seen a published number or taken the measurement themselves?
To check out my speedbumps I really need the exact number - even a quarter inch error could be a big problem!
The corvette has a simple bolt to turn at each end to raise or lower the chassis. There was a thread on this a few days ago.
One CF member raised his C6 3/4" right off the bat to avoid the problems you bring up. Pics are in that thread. Search "radiator support" since some mentioned ripping those off due to low clearance.
No matter how high or low you adjust your clearance, remember to take inclines, bumps, ramps, etc at an angle, and if you see one slow down if you can without causing an accident (someone rear ending you)

4.5 inches to the lower radiator supports, but realize that it doesn't take a 4.5 inch step in the pavement to cause the car to hit. Suspension travel can drop that clearance to 2.5 inches, and angle of approach figures in too. Any bump or slope that raises the rear will lower the front overhang. Etc.
