I'd like to actually go TEST drive one of the Vettes considering I'm putting so much time into searching for them, and figuring the best way to pay for it etc.
What are dealers like when you want to test drive a vette? Is it a big deal?

It is a big deal to some. Seems every dealer is different. Logically you'd think that a larger dealer would be the easiest place to test drive. Maybe not. In my area, the smallest dealer was the most acuminating and a pleasure to work with. With your research, I'm sure you've checked out the forum dealers. From the comments from this forum, it seems they would be a good resource also. Good luck.
It may also depend on the day of the week, time of the day and most of all how serious you appear in buying the car. I would suggest you find a time when they are least busy.
Interesting I went in for a test drive and they said no... A week later my wife and two Teenage boys went in to the same dealer and they let all of them test drive one.
Went to my local dealer on Aug 31 (last day of month). Test drove a used C5. They asked if I wanted to test drive a new C6. I didn't, maybe should have!
For my test drives, I found a local dealer from this forum who honored GMIDs (Boardwalk Chev), called them & told them I had a GMID & wanted to test drives new C6s with different suspensions, etc.. They were great & setup a few different test drives for me.
It took me about 6 weeks after my first test drive before I pulled the trigger. I took it to the extreme, and went to a Spring Mountain 3-day vette school for the ultimate test drive.
Boardwalk was very patient with me during my decision process. It definitely depends on the dealer. If you live close to a dealer that supports this forum, that might be a good starting place.
One dealer was reluctant to let us drive a used C5 Vette and only let 1 of us drive while the salesman went along. The dealer where we bought the car had about 30 new C6's on the lot and said "which one do you want to take out ?" No salesman and no pressure. When we returned he actually said " you're back already ?" Had no problem letting us take a second one out to compare the auto vs manual. Where are you located ? My dealer is in Maryland.
Dealers here is Western PA keep them indoors. They are very reluctant to give test drives to just anybody. If you are a serious buyer then I don't think they would mind.
Your profile only says "Northeast" so I don't know how far away this would be for you . . . but Gary Enck's Car Store in Cooperstown, NY will let you drive one. Visit the Baseball Hall of Fame while you're there.
suggestion: why be so shy and anonymous? put in a city, state, first name and any other info. promise, no one's coming after you or your not yet bought Vette.

There are MANY here who, for whatever reasons, have not filled in their profiles. I don't get it.
