Adding XM
I've asked this over in the Audio section but I would like to ask it here also to get more chances of feedback. I have a 2006 coupe with the base radio system. I would like to have XM with stock GM components but do not care for nav or multiple CD. What components would I have to change out for this? I understand that the XM antennas are in the mirrors. Do all of the 2006 mirrors have the antennas in them or would I have to also change mirrors? I want the finished project to be as stock if possible.

Here's your best bet. Get the two new mirrors (will also need wiring run) and get the 2008 base radio. It will be similar to yours except that it will have XM and, as an added bonus, you will get an MP3 jack!

Thanks Dave. If I get the parts you suggested and install them, what is involved in getting the new radio to recognize my car's VIN, which my service manual tells me it has to do? Is this a dealer only programming? Also could you provide me with pricing on the items I would need? It is a 2006 coupe with the 2LT package and LMB.
