Theft Lock Radio ?
First off I changed my battery and my radio went to LOC
To retrieve code I pressed and held the preset 2 and 3 buttons for 6 seconds and got the first 3 digit code.
When I press and release the AM/FM button the number stays the same then goes back to LoC.
Am I doing some thing wrong? or would the second second 3 digit code be the same as the first?

You will have to take it the the dealer. A Tech 2 is required to unlock the radio.

I'll assume someone else activated the Theft Loc prior to you getting the car. If they didn't write down the code they used (that you need to enter to unlock it), a trip to the dealer is in order.

Do all C6's have this feature? I replaced my battery and my radio/NAV worked afterward.

The theft lock is user set. If you didn't activate it by setting a code to start with, then none is required after a battery swap.
Most cars with coded radios come coded from the factory--the Vette (and other Chevrolets, I assume) is different.

Good information. I assume this information is in the manual, I'll check it out.

I am using the dealer procedure and get the same reset code on both procedures.
It is like a lottery number. You take the first 3 #'s and the second set of #'s to get the recovery number.
It is hard to believe I would get the same # in a two segment recovery procedure.
I will keep you up to date with what I find out.
I was hoping a GM tech on this site might have run into this issue.
PS.The Tech II does not interface with the radio.

Are you sure? I know for a fact that it does on the 2007 Chevy Avalanche. I had to deal with it when I swapped the radios out.

From what I understand:
When a GM radio is first installed, it 'learns' part of the host car's VIN over the vehicle's data bus. The radio stores this info in its memory, and is then 'locked' to that vehicle. Every time the car is started, the radio checks the VIN segment in memory to the VIN of the host vehicle (using the data bus of the vehicle). If it matches, the radio plays. If it doesn't, the radio shows "LOCKED".
If you transfer the radio to another vehicle, the VIN segment in the radio memory must be reset to the new host vehicle by hooking up the TECHII tool to the vehicle, and running a certain "VIN Relearn" procedure.

Went to the shop and made a phone call to GM
Gave them the recovery code and they gave me another code to unlock the radio.
I wrote the code down in the owners manual for future reference.
