Default Stabbed Condenser!

I was installing my VaraRam today, and everything was going good. I got the template cut out just fine. I fit the intake in there, and needed to cut a little piece off. This was just a piece on the front of the shroud, not near the condenser. I was cutting it, slipped, and the box knife hit the condenser. SHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Crap! So until that point, it went good. The template sucks though. Now I have to take her in an get that replaced. I was quoted $815 out the door at my local dealership. Oh well. You live, you learn.

Been a while since we've had one of these.

$815.00 plus the cost of the Vararam, I hope its worth it.

A good friend once told me that knowledge is expensive. Thanks for sharing. You may have made someone aware enought that they avoid the same.

I've been working on cars, boats, motorhomes and bikes over 50 years and never made a mistake.

If I can help at least one person today, then my work here is done...

I even took precautions to not hit the condenser, with a nice hard piece of hard plastic. I just missed that and hit the condenser where it was not covering. DOH!!

On another note, the VaraRam fit quite well, and I think looks really good. I replaced a Halltech with it, and like the look of the concealed filter better. The scoop is pretty cool too.

Very sorry to hear. You'll get it fixed and then forget about it.

Patrick (Vararam) can cut it out on the car, without a mistake, in about 3 1/2 mins. Took me alot longer, with many calls to him for advice.

Winter is coming; no need for air until next summer.

There are some people out there who can weld alum.

Also, comprehensive ins might cover part of it.

Yup sure did And it only cost me $1400.00. $800.00 for the condensor and installation and $600.00 for the tune as long as I was there. Only good thing is that I won the Vararam in a raffle. Worst part about it was I only had about 1/8" to go.

I did the same thing back last year in August of 2006. I took the condenser out and took it to a radiator shop and they was able to fix it without blocking off one of the many coil lines. It costed $30. Had the ac refilled by a mech. freind, and every thing has been working fine. Air blows very cold to this day and no leaks. So far so good. Good luck

That's a bit much, i had to replace my condensor, part itself cost me $265 if I remember correctly and about $150 for a mechanic to put it in and charge it.

I hate road debris. Thats why I bought the racemesh grill...
