I recentley had a Kenwood Tuner / Navi system installed and noticed that the DIC beeps are gone when changing functions.
I should probably know this but is there a command that turns it on and off?
I recently drove a 2007 Z06 we had in trade and the DIC was also silent.
I know, I know, there is an owners manual but it's at home and I'm stuck here at work.

The DIC beeps and warnings are tied to the factory head unit. If you had an aftermarket unit installed, you removed them. Your audio integrater needed to install a third party adapter (simulator) to bring them back. Without it, they are gone for ever.
Me too, I wish I could get rid of those annoying beeps for good. I know when I'm pressing the button. I don't need the beep to remind me of what I'm doing. I just got a new Yukon Denali and there's no beep when pressing the buttons. I wonder why GM feels it's necessary in the Vette?

What I love is that the beeps are somewhat delayed and never seem to match up with the changing display.
But the speed of light is faster than the speed of sound.
sounds like the same problem I had, I had a AVIC-D3 installed lost all warning beeps ect... Turns out the installer put the wrong peripheral module in. I removed all items returned them to the shop then installed the unit myself using the correct module and now everything works as it shoudl. I did not want to chance not being alertd about low oil pressure, low or flat tire so I believe the beeps are very important.
I don't find the beeps that annoying, and they come in handy for things like setting preferences for FOB 1 and 2. The double beep lets me know that the programming stuck.
As far as missing them- an earlier poster is correct. The beeps are generated by sending a data signal to the head unit, which in turn generates the beep. It sounds to me like your installer did not do due diligence and give you the correct vehicle interface. All of the interface modules made by peripheral and metra (the two most popular brands)for the GM/corvette specifically include the capability to generate beeps. The higher end model interface adapters also include the capability to relay OnStar audio through the stereo system.
A bigger concern in my mind is if the installer even used an interface adapter appropriate for GM/Corvette cars. The interface adapter connects to the vehicle's data bus. This is the same bus that all other electronic components in the car communicate. If it is not the correct adapter, there is a risk that it can hose up the car's BCM/ECM during reprogramming of those modules. This case would happen if you put in a tune, use a predator, or update the ECM/BCM. There is a tech bulleten for certain hardware revisions of the peripheral adapter mentioning this exact condition, and it reccomends disconnecting the stereo during reprogramming.
I would like to get rid of MOST of the stupid beeps, but not going to that much work (changing the head unit) Too bad it only adjusted loud or louder, a mute feature would be good.
Another poster mentioned DRLs, no problem I turn the stalk **** every time I start car, unless its dark out. (That also keeps the dam headlights from comming on in my garage) Only you GOT to do it every time. GM & their stupid defaults

The radio head unit is an integral part of the car's data system. You really have to get this right or there can be serious consequences. Losing the beeps and chimes is the least of your concerns. You could make the ECM, TCM, and BCM totally unrecoverable if the dealer or a tuner attempts a routine update. That could get seriously expensive, and it wouldn't be covered by warranty since you installed an aftermarket HU which caused the problem.
I tell people who want to uprade their sound systems that it is Ok to change speakers, Ok to swap out the amp, but changing a HU is serious business. You can't afford to make any mistakes there.

I do the same thing but then I get to read the headlamps suggested nanny screen. At least it keeps my bulbs from wearing out faster.
Would that be described as premature defilamentation?
Do you guys get that annoying pop sound from the speakers when ever you turn the ignition off?
Which guys are you asking, the ones who still have beeps from the DIC or those who don't? My DIC still beeps, but there are no pops when turning off the ignition.
