I keep having to jump my 05. The battery is draining between 5 and ten minutes. After I jump it my guage and dic read the voltage between 13.6V and 14.2V. All the lights work as well as the radio, it just won't start without a jump.
I haven't changed anything to my stereo lately. The only thing that i have done is change the consol to CF, but that was a week ago.
Should I just buy a new battery and what kind should I get? What is the difference between Optima redt op or yellow?
As for the Optima, yellow tops are "deep cycling," meaning that they can withstand more total discharges than a regular battery (like a red top). I recommend the D35 Yellow Top for 2006+ cars (2005's use a different post system).
As for the cause, have you had the car reflashed? Any other electrical issues? Have you checked? If not, that needs to be done as well. Obviously, your battery is junk, but if the underlying problem isn't fixed as well, you'll just kill another battery.

For your 2005, I would recommend the Optima Yellow Top model D34 or D34/78. The specs are identical, only difference is the D34 has top posts only and the D34/78 has both top posts and side terminals. You can get more info at this website:
Mine failed at 13 months. On or more cells had failed/shorted. Even on a charger for 2 days it would just turn over. Would go for a drive come back and it would be dead as soon as I shut down. AC DELCO batteries have had a lot of troubles for some time . Guys on the C5 forum have been reporting problems with the Optima also.
