Default UAW Theft?

With my delivery scheduled for Friday at the museum, my car was built on the 17th and is supposedly on a truck ready to cross the flippin' street to the museum.

But the Allied drivers will not cross the line, and the workers won't let it out.

I am not there in person to confirm, but if that is the case how is this not theft of my property?

I am not for or against the strike. I think both sides need to grow up a bit. But for the strike to work, I understand a work stoppage.

But what does that have to do with completed product????!!!!

However, I am hearing 7-10 week strike times.

Once I do take delivery, GM will not be giving me a break on the cost of the vehicle, and it will be two months older.

The value will be less, not to mention my lost time driving it in 07!

A vette delivery in December in the Chicago area is about as valuable as ice to eskimos'.

So how is the UAW not stealing from me?

It's not theft yet because you don't own the covette yet. Feel you pain!!! Hang in there and lets hope the strike doesn't last long. Good luck!!!!

I do understand how you feel, mine is there waiting to be delivered also. But I don't see how blaming one side or the other is going to help. As for the theft part it still belongs to GM until you take possesion. I don't see why though that management can't drive the vehicle to the Museum for the NCM deliveries, it's not like it's a long drive and that way Allied would not have to cross the picket line.

If you are that concerned, contact GM directly and see if you can pick up at the factory location or hire your own non-union driver to transport.

Union workers pay substantial $$ monthly.
Union must make some noise so that members feel they are getting somethng for their $$.
Union membership is about half of what it was 25 years ago.
Union of making tons of noise right now; they are also putting the big 3 closer to bankruptcy.
Heck, in a few years, we might all be sporting a Toyota or Honda label, thanks to the idiots in Detroit. Look what they have done for us over the past 50 years. From the prettiest fastest cars in the world to some of the blandest cars made anywhere. Corvette is the exception.
Done.

The reason that won't happen, is because of Allied's contract with GM. Allied is the only way any of those cars move anywhere, and since they are also union they will honor the UAW picket lines and won't cross.

In the union world, nothing moves or gets done that is not part of the contract and/or job description.

I hate to read about the grief this is causing some of you waiting for your new Corvettes. Lets just hope this is short lived, and everything returns to normal soon.
