Default New Trim Console Availability

I really like the new trimmed out console on the 2008's but have not seen a forum vendor selling an aftermarket version for us pre-08 owners. Is there one out there yet?

Thanks!

You can buy the real thing from Gene at GMpartshouse.com or others...so why buy a knockoff?

I am interested in a non-black color version which is not available from GM to my knowledge.

Just took a look at the gmpartshouse website - there are no 2008 trim consoles available.

Also, will a 2008 console fit on a 2005?

The 2008 piece will definitely fit your 2005 unless you have F55; the 2008 F55 control **** is quite different from the 2005 one and the two are not easily interchangeable. The other thing to consider is the "Passenger Airbag Off" light located in the small "tombstone" piece of the 2005 console trim. The 2008 trim piece has no provision for it. I plan to do the conversion in my own 2005 Z51; I'll probably just leave the airbag light hidden underneath the new console trim.

Thanks for the info, I do have the F55. I guess my only option will be if a vendor retrofits one of the original consoles with the trim piece.

I believe Gene Culley was working on it; you might contact him and see if he's worked anything out yet. Sorry I can't be of more help to you on this.

There are a number of us working on the F55 conversion. Keep watching for threads (there are already a couple) and I expect the solution will be found relatively soon to allow you to use the '08 stock console.
