Default Loose Seat Backs

I just discovered the seat backs on my C6 do not lock in place. They will stay in the set upright position, but I can move the backs forward because they do not lock in place. Is this normal?

Yep pretty much the way mine is. It will lock in 2-3 places but not nearly as many as my Suburban, for example. Doesn't bother me as I have the seat all the way back, but my wife is annoyed when she can't get the passenger seat to stay in the exact spot she wants.

I think GM gives the seat backs some free play so folks don't break them trying to motor them rearward with the backs reclined.

They do flop forward a bit, but only partway without releasing the latch on the back of the headrest. Kind of convenient for putting small items behind the seat, but a bit unnerving when you brake and the passenger seat flops forward. Fastening the passenger seat belt helps with that, though. As well as preventing it from flapping in the wind.

Personally, I'd rather they opted for non-flopping over convenience in putting items behind the seat for a sports car where heavy braking is to be expected.

I have not been real keen about the way they adjust or do not adjust much, but generally I drive happy. I have noticed that this is the first car that I want to be much closer to the wheel. Usually I go back as far as I can in truck or Camry.
