Has anyone heard when GM is going to offer the 08 software upgrade for the 06/07s....or is it already available and some dealers are not aware of it. Just curious......
I was told last year at Funfest by a GM rep that it couldn't be done as it was more that just upgrading the software. If this was not true......by all means someone chime in and let us know
Get a Chuck COW A6 Transmission tune. It will dramatically change how your car feels and performs....higher shift points, smooth/crisp shifts--both up and down, and your transmission will no longer fight to get into 6th gear as fast as it can. His transmission tune coupled with his engine tune will produce a wonderful change to your driving experience and is probably the best performance upgrade for the money. Since I had mine done at Carlisle, I've felt like I've been driving a new car!
The A6 improvements will not likely be made available to the the previous years transmissions. The upgrade is a change to both the programming logic of the shift but also some mechanical changes as mentioned here:
Even if they were to make the software changes available, it likely wouldn't have the same impact as the hardware would not have been changed.

Are the COW transmission tunes strictly an in shop proposition or can this be done via mail order? If so, which module is required and where is it located?
The COW tune is good, but it isn't the only game out there. I agree that earlier A6's will not get "upgraded" to the 2008 standard as it is both software AND hardware that make the changes possible. However, any good tuning house can offer a change in the A6 shift program. Even a handheld like a SuperChips programmer can modify the A6 programming. I used that prior to getting a custom tune to go with my supercharger from Doug Rippie.
