Hi, I just bought a 08 Victory Red Corvette coupe, automatic, with a black interior. This is my 1st Vette and I love it. A friend of mine, use to own a 98 Red C5 vert, automatic, with a cashmere interior and top. She goes on about how great her Vette was and she infers her C5 was better looking than the C6s. I think the C5s are beautiful, but I prefer the C6. Where can I go to find out what the improvements of the C6 are over the C5s. I need knowlegde! Thanks, Ray

If you really want to learn the distinctions between C5's and C6's, you're in the right place to start searching and reading between the two forums.

They are 2 different cars! Both great, but different. The C6 is a greatly improved sports car. There is a book... CORVETTE, Sports Car Super Star, by the auto editors of the consumer guide.

I never understand why people spend so much time trying to change people's minds on these kinds of things. If she thinks her car looks better than yours, who cares? I'm sure she will be equally annoyed with you when you try to convince her that the C6 is better than her C5.

Many have bloodied their fingers in the many and never ending C5 vs C6 battles...nobody is going to win that war... when it comes to "looks" its a matter of opinion.... you can throw all the technical advancements into the argument (More HP, More Torque, better fuel economy, better handling, better creature conforts, etc - as any new gen vette should be) and it STILL wont win the "looks" was...
Hell the retractable headlights vs. fixed headlights battle alone lasted for over a year....
Just tell her regardless of which she thinks is better looking that she would look equally beautifull in either

Though the body and interior are very different the frame, suspension, and engine are an evolution of the C5/LS6 (the ’04 LS6 FI system was new and was used in the C6 LS2). The C6 Z51’s goal was to match C5 Z06 performance in engine and suspension/handling and they did it. The C5 Z06’s stiffer frame came from the addition of the roadster’s extra bracing and we know the goal of the C6 team was an overall stiffer frame; suspension geometry and damper settings were changed to provide a more compliant ride and still meet handling goals.

I sort of understand what she is saying and feeling. I think the 61/62 models were the best looking but I am buying a 2008 for other reasons. I say if that is how she feels - so what? I had 2 C5s and thought they were great cars - I can understand her fierce pride. Tastes vary - not much you can do.

I just did a little homework - the OP is apparently 65 years old. I doubt if we'll teach him anything about women he hasn't already learned, or is incapable of learning. I say we load him up with information and let him do battle with his lady friend
