I hate to say this , but I love the base sound system in my 08 vert. Except for some annoying sound EQ setups that really pump the BASS, I can reprogram that back and find the sound to be very pleasing. With that said, I am not an audiophile but do have Mark Levinson in my Lexus RX330 and think this system is comparable (for basic type listening). I always thought my first upgrade would be the speakers. Not so sure now. BTW: how much labor did it take you to change out to the BA speakers?
As to your earlier question, mine is not cracking. Sorry.

Well if they sound OK with one source and bad with another why would you blame the speakers? Sounds like the problem is with the source...
I notice a lot of static on FM but it goes away if I switch to AM for a second. (A trait of 2005s, I believe). Otherwise the system sounds just fine to me.
The XM station keeps coming and going on mine. I only have it for three months and then it's gone anyway but it's skipping in and out is enough to make me drop it.
does anyone else have that cracking sound? It just doesnt sound crisp. It sounds great with a cd but the radio itself gets bad reception.
Had similar problem. It will only get worse. Mine turned out to be the pass. door big speaker. Warranty item. Sounds much better.
But, I think the Bose system Blose....
My 2006 Bose is significantly poorer with the XM than anything else, but that has to do with the XM gear and satellite signal compression, not the system itself. Frankly, I hear a lot of people say that "this system is better," or "that system is better." I don't buy it. A car is the WORST place for sound quality judgment. When the car is going down the road, the road and wind noise make accurate quality judgment impossible. All that matters is what sounds "best" to you. If Bose works, great. If not, get something else. My Bose sounds just fine to me, although, like I said, XM needs to work on its stuff. Until then, I just turn it up a little, and it sounds just fine.
Some of the reason is that most small companies can't meet the output requirements of GM. Those same speakers are probably in 15-20 different GM Models.
Besides mine actually got better about a month ago. I got hearing aids

My wife has a Cadillac SRX with the Bose and the radio sounds better, I believe it is due to the height of the antenna in the SRX versus my C6.
Also when I play a CD or MP3 the quality seems to be better than the radio so I wouldn't guess your speakers are to blame.

Yes this is a known issue with 05s and some 06s. The good news is there is an easy fix. Just go to your dealer and have the Bose unit updated with the newer software CD. Takes 10 seconds - no more FM static. FM will sound clearer as well.
Bose pretty much sucks. I wish GM would go with another supplier, like Infinity or someone.
Diamond Audio would be fantastic....
My other vehicle is a RAM SRT10 with the infinity system and 10" sub from Dodge. It is by far the best sounding stock audio system that I have ever heard. It has an order of magnitude better sound quality than this bose system.

The best sounding factory system I have ever heard is a toss-up between the Lexus Mark Levinson and the Audi Bang & Olufsen system. Of course, they have commensurate price tags.
