So, I've had my 08 C6 all of 3 weeks now and today I could not get in the car with the remote. Fortunately, I knew the secret entrance method and was able to get in that way. Although the alarm going off everytime I have to do this is a little on the embarrassing side. :o
I've bought a lot of new cars in my life and I've never had one break this quickly. Yes, I know it's a complicated piece of machinery and that all brands of cars have early breakdowns of various forms, but this is just really a buzz kill.
I also understand that there is already a TSB for this so I'll haul her in tomorrow and get it fixed. I just hope this is not a sign of things to come.
I suppose there's a slight chance it's the remote battery, which I will test as soon as I can, but I find it hard to believe a battery could drain so quickly unless it was somehow bad from the start. I'm not holding out a lot of hope on that one, but it's all I have right now.
I bet it is the FOB-related TSB and it is not the FOB's battery. Call the dealer first to check if he is aware of the TSB and is ready to implement the fix. It would not surprise me if many dealers have no clue about it.
That sucks! Please keep us updated on what the problem is. It's a small problem, but definitely a pain in the A$$ - especially on a brand new car.
BTW - do you keep your cell phone in the same pocket as your key? Wasn't there a potential problem with that? (It was something like that anyway).
I generally have my cell phone on my hip opposite the pocket where I have the FOB. I also think if it was cell phone related I would have had the problem from day 1 since I'm not doing anything different today than I did any other day. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
The letter from GM states they will install a new module for the keyless access system for the cars affected by this "program" at no charge until 10/31/08. Bring both your fobs to be reprogrammed after the new module is installed.

Thanks. I guess what I don't get is what happens after 10/31/08? The car is still under warranty long after that and I can't imagine this wouldn't be covered (or maybe I just didn't read the warranty closely enough).
So, out of the blue, it is now working. I didn't do anything. I probably went through 10-15 cycles of having to get in through the hatch over the course of several hours and then, presto, everything seems to all of a sudden be OK. It's also interesting that my VIN was not in the range of those under the TSB, but the symptoms were dead on. Guess I'll have to wait and see what tomorrow brings.

Glad to help. I don't know why they give a deadline because it would be covered by your 3 year/36K mile warranty. I feel your pain because my C6 is in the VIN range affected. I called the dealer this morning to make sure they had the part before I went in. They said they did so off I went. Once there they insist my car is not affected. Had to give them some schooling on their internet skills. Showed them the notice in this thread. They looked at me like I was a Corvette God. I love this forum. But guess what, no part in stock, what a shock. Part is supposed to arrive tomorrow.

Yeah, I hear ya! I bought my Vette at the largest dealer in San Diego, but when I called and talked to the service manager about this problem he said he's never heard of it, which I suppose is possible. I referred him to the TSB and he just seemed amazed that I could find such information on my own. I don't expect everyone to know everything, but just like in the world of medicine sometimes you have to be your own doctor.
