I'm wondering, what is the difference between Flowmaster (a few hundred dollars) versus the Borlas/Corsas (thousand+ dollars) exhaust systems? Why spend several times over?
Thanks!
BTW, my apologizes if this has been asked several times before.
Here goes another argument. I have the $357.00 eBay purchasedFlowmasters, the newer version whatever they are called. I liked the Zoomers the most, but I could not see the $1000.00 difference. Money no problem buy the stainless B&Bs bullets or one of the other hiugh dollar systems. Will you be able to see them under the car? The flowmasters sound like a small block system . There is some dreaded DRONE @ about 1500 to 1800 in cruise. But you will get the drone in varying amounts WHATEVER.I ask everyone what exhaust they think I have and so far no one has said you have the cheap Flowmaster Exhaust......Its up to you spend as much as you want to spend. By the wat those exhaust sounds on YOU TUBE, don't let that make up your mind, listen to the exhaust in real time. Next week some one will ask the same question , it will be your turn to answer the newbee.
The difference is STAINLESS STEEL versus ALIMINIZED stuff. Also,CORVETTE TAX!!
I prefer BASSANI.Great sound-BRAND NEW SYSTEM CAN BE HAD FOR 850 BUCKS OR SO!
The basic difference between the Flowmasters and other exhaust systems that are triple the price is the fact that all of the other systems are made of stainless steel materials. Flowmaster utilizes an aluminized steel piping, that over time has the ability to rust. I live in Phoenix, AZ, where I am not too worried about that. If you live somewhere where it snows and they salt the roads, and plan on keeping an exhaust system for a long time, aluminized steel will not hold up.
One other big difference between the Flowmasters and other systems, which makes no price difference is the fact that the Flowmasters are a chambered muffler. Most of the other muffler systems are straight through, which gives a different sound. Sound is up to the owner.
I have a GM Performance Exhaust. Which is a Borla designed exhaust cat-back system (basically the same thing with different name on it)...$1200. Bought it through the dealer where I bought my Vette. It sounds awesome!
Flowmaster will be a little more tame because of the chambers. If your looking to add some sound than its the way to go. But if you want to make it LOUD than I would go Borla, Corsa, and/or B&B. I've heard them all in person on a variety of Vettes. I heard an 04 Z06 with a Corsa cat-back (had LT headers) and it was probably the best Vette I've ever heard that didn't have a cam.
