Hello everybody and thanks for the intervention...My Name is Marc and I have a problem!....... , I just realized that I spent the last 8 hrs straight on this site and I don't even own a vette! (In the market for my 1st at this time) I am afraid of what is going to happen when I do get my 1st Vette? Will I have to quit my job and let my lawn return to weed infested medow land? I have a bad feeling that I may have come to the wrong place for help in this matter. Any and all advise is welcome and my humble thanks in advance! Regards
Problem? I see no problem here. Well, maybe I'm still in denial myself, but it's definitely a smart move to learn as much you can about the purchasing process and the options available on the Vette before you commit to placing an order. And this is best on-line source to do that.
As far having a problem after you take delivery, I don't see the time you spend here on the forum a problem unless it's eating into the time you would otherwise spend out driving your new Vette.
8 hours ? Yeah, you might have a little bit of a problem. But on the other hand, its keeping you from wandering the mean streets of Brookfield at 3:38am. Go visit Rick at EVS if your in his area, you will find he is also vette "crazy"
Ha I know how you feel. 2 years ago I started reading this site because I was bored. I always liked vettes but I thought they were way out of my legue (drove a 01 Mustang GT at the time) Within a year I bought a C5 because of this site and within 6 months of so I upgraded to my C6
Warning, this Forum is quite addicting. I was very happy on with my C5, and spent quite a bit of time hanging around on the C5 forum. Then I started peeking into the C6 forum over the winter to see what was going to be happening with the 2008 C6's. Well, it wasn't long until the C6 forum had me drooling for a new 2008 C6. Shortly after they started making them I flew back to Bowling Green and drove my new '08 home.
It's not going to be too long before you will find yourself in a similar drooling. When the time comes, just go for it! Life's too short.
You still have the hours that you currently sleep to spend actually driving the Corvette. Just ask me, I picked up my new 08 yesterday (replacing my 07).
I also retired about two years ago so I can spend all my time with my toys. Oh and some with my teenage kids. Just have to get that ratio right.
One thing I would like to run past the members of this forum is this. I feel like I getting a little bit of cold feet regarding owning and keep up with the mechanics of a vette. I have been doing alot of reading in the tech areas of this forum and I see alot of horror stories regarding getting a reliable service tech for both majior and minor things as well as special lifting requirements for these cars. I am not a mechanic by a long shot but do turn a mean wrench and have rebuild 3 mid 60s tbird verts into senior cars and at present time have almost a complete car that I reduced to parts in the basement of my home. (I sell alot on ebay). Does this qualify me to be a vette owner? With a vette being a high tech high speed computer on wheels, I am worried that I may be getting in over my head if I can't find a good reliable mechanic in my area as I do not have an over abundance of vette dealers to choose from. Am I being overly concerned? Regards, Marc

Reason: poor spelling
Welcome to the nuthouse, Marc! Yeah, you probably have a problem but it's a common one and you're in good company. I think at this point the best remedy is for you to go buy a Corvette.
Wow, a "Brookfieldite"! I grew up in that area (New Berlin). My Mom and brother live in Brookfield. Many years ago, I was the general manager of the McDonald's that used to be on Capital Drive at 143rd; then I went on to manage the one on Hwy. 18 at Kossow Rd. (across from the Highway Patrol headquarters). I bought the worst car I've ever owned from Soerens Ford (brand new '75 Mustang II). Overall, I have many fond memories from there.
Go see Rick Conti at EVS in Random Lake. ("Who do ya know, wants to buy a car?") He'll take good care of you.
You've got a problem when you've got more than 5 stars below your name. Don't worry about reliability; the car is great. Just educate yourself so you know what you're talking about when going to the dealer. All you need is right here.
Now, go take a short walk before you get a blood clot.
Same problem here. I'm up in WA and we are into that lovely time of year for which we are known (rain, rain, and more rain). Wanted to order my first Vette earlier this year and just couldn't decide on a color. So I continue to lurk, learn, and wait for the Spring. I even have hopes that the mocha brown color will be reality and actually look good but that's another thread. Now I must get back to it as I have only been on for 2 hours today.
Mpuzach....From New Berlin to California....WOW Thats quite a jump!! Mickey D's payed you enough to own a vette?
Nope! I didn't get my first Vette until long after leaving Macs. My '05 coupe is my very first one. Since it took me so long to be able to buy one, I decided to get exactly what I wanted by ordering from the factory. The wait (exactly 84 days) sucked but it was worth it in the end.
