For what it's worth, my service dept in OH has been exceptional through 5 service visits. Still in my 1st year of ownership, but that's ANOTHER FRIGGIN STORY. Damn GM quality control... I think they're improving tho.

I still don't understand why a dealer would choose NOT to service a vehicle. I mean, GM pays the dealer what it costs to service the vehicle, right? And the dealer has a shot at making a new potential customer. Am I missing something?

Hi: I am a forum member of corvetteforum.com and a resident of New Jersey. Is it true you will not perform warranty work on Corvettes not purchased from your dealership, Chevy's flagship vehicle? That is what we are being told by a fellow forum member who attempted to receive warranty work from you. Please let me know if this is true, so I might inform my fellow forum members (many of which reside in NJ) and friends and neighbors. I would like to let them know if this information is correct or not so that we might determine whether we should patronize your buisness or avoid it at all costs. Thanks I await your response.

Good email.

For dealerships like this, GM may not have to require them to service the vehicle, but they should pull the corvette allocations to that dealer, and forward them to those that deserve it.

Anytime you get this type of services, at least send a complaint to BBB.

General Motors has waranteed the car. The dealer(s) won't service it. What does GM recommend you do? Take the car to Bowling Green. This is absurd. If this is the practice of GM and it's dealerships then it should be disclosed before the sale of the car. The waranty is a contract that GM is bound to honor. Demand that they supply you with a dealer that will honor your contract. If the distance from your home is too great then GM can pay for a flatbed to and from the servicing dealership. BTW, stop making payments car until you are satisfied.

It is true that legally they are in the right, but from a business standpoint they are obviously wrong and need to be shown the error of their ways. Its worked before!
Heard about a guy who rallied all of his friends to make a ton of appointments at a dealer. No appointments showed, and it screwed up their schedule royally.

Kind of like the history of Sunday car sales in Detroit. Years ago, no car dealer in Detroit was open on Sundays to sell cars. One dealer decided he would do it. Sales people from ALMOST ALL other dealerships sent their sales staff to act like customers. (Other dealers did not want to open on Sunday, but they could have been forced to.) Sunday dealership discontinued the idea real quickly.

Jaxon,

While I agree that this is a difficult situation. The mere fact of not making your payments will not solve the problem in the least. In fact it will only hurt YOU. Your financing and your vehicle are two seperate issues bundled all together. If you do not make your payments then you will ruin your credit. Don't make 3 of your payments and the bank comes and takes it away. Nobody gets hurt but YOU. GMAC is a seperate company with a different set of goals then GM. GM sells cars. GMAC loans money. The only marriage between the two is the parent company, and even that is split with an investment firm.

Sent an e-mail as well. In the near future, I am going to purchase another corvette, only this time using internet. I do not feel the dealership will answer my e-mail, though.

Wow, just when I thought it was safe to buy American again you read more of these things. I have driven Toyotas for 25 years becase of this type of crap and I thought it was over and done with.
Bought an "07 Vette this year and have been holding my breath ever since. I actually have been thinking of a second GM product but better stick with Toyota for the time being. Beats me why GM cannot figure it out.
I will add that Toyota is not stupid and if they put a Corvette-looking foreign product out there with some American flavor and it could pull enough sales to take the cream out of things for GM. No wait, that's never happened before.
GM didn't lose to the foreign makers, they GAVE their business away with stupid dealer tricks.

I am the person who started this thread and I would like to clarify a few things. Firstly I have had great service from this dealership for 15 years, but unfortunately I was turned away by a new service manager that was just hired. Secondly I am very disappointed in circle Chevrolet for not doing warrantee repairs on my car even though I didn't purchase the car from them (I have purchased other vehicles from them in the past) But my biggest disappointment is with GM. Granted as I was told by GM each dealer is independent and can refuse me service at their whims but GM has clout in vehicle allocation and in other areas to persuade a dealer to do what's in the best interests of the parent corporation (keep customers happy so they continue to buy GM cars). When GM told me that the dealer could do as they please and that I should find another dealer to warrantee my car, they were in fact telling me we don't care if you buy our cars our dealer network is more important than our customers. Well, I can take a hint, I will never buy another GM vehicle.

The fact is, Alan, it's the dealer who screwed you, not GM. Legally, there's nothing GM can do to force the dealer to service your car. Yeah, it sucks that GM won't try to apply some muscle to get the dealership to change their ways but the fact is that the dealer made a conscious choice to adopt their utterly stupid approach to business. In addition, the fact that you've been a loyal customer of this dealership for 15 years makes their actions even more despicable.

Thank you . A. Conti MD.

This is the e-mail I just sent Circle Chevrolet. We will see what the say?

Nicely done. I too sent a similar message. Everyone else should take the time to do the same. I bet that will get some attention ...

I very much want GM to prosper and hope they can rebuild the company.

However, it's time to consider another brand if they allow Dealers to refuse warranty repairs because a car was purchased elsewhere. I think most people realize from first hand experience that GM Dealerships don't provide the same quality of service as other, more successful companies. My wife will not buy a GM product because she still remembers how she was treated at a GM Dealership 15 years ago. And, GM said essentially "too bad but we don't care" when she contacted them for assistance.

I understand Dealerships wants to give preferential treatment to people who purchased at the Dealership. I have absolutely no problem with that policy, but GM needs to require Dealers to perform warranty repairs as their schedule permits.

Do yourself a favor. Look in the back of your warranty book for the BBB number to resolve issues and for Lemon Law stuff. Call the BBB tell them XYZ dealership refused to service your car and now you want GM to buy it back. They are obligated to take your information and send you the paperwork. At the same time GM is sent a very high level alert of a possible re purchase claim. Before you get the paperwork in the mail you will have a call from someone at the GM "business resource center" that will make that dealer suck your C**k to bring it back in to them for service. Do it you'll see. They will do just about anything to keep you from filing a BBB Lemon claim against them. It doesn't even matter if your claim of repair qualifies as a Lemon law case. By not servicing your car its considered a breech of warranty issue. Tell the BBB you want to file on behalf of breech of warranty agreement.
