I own a 2006 C6 with an automatic and the shift **** button constantly rattles. I took it to the dealer for a different issue and they said there was nothing they could do. Is anyone else having this problem and if so, what is the fix.
I didn't have the same exact problem, but my ebrake was rattling. I tool it apart and put adhesive backed felt (99cents at michaels craft store) in strategic places. Quiet as a mouse now.
Cheers
I have a new 08 and my automatic shift rattles in S mode only. I did not have this prolem in my 06. Going to look at it tomorrow. A little WD40 may help.
i had the rattiling problem too, i took it to the dealer like 4 times before it got fixed. They installed a new shifter **** and even the new one rattled, they order it again and finally fixed it, i had the e-brake rattling problem and they orderd me a new one too and that got fixed too.

Put the felt on one side of the button. It worked for me.
Dont know if it was the problem with mine but the noise disappeared after having the diff fluid changed and two bottles of the additive put in. I figured it was driveline vibration from the rear clutch packs that was causing the problem. After the fluid was changed, I have had no noise from my shifter........
I just put a little pressure between the button and the the holder with a straight edge screwdriver and inserted a one side self sticking felt pad on one side of the button. This eliminated the button from moving from side to side.
