I got a 41 in a 25, on a road that has NO business being 25. Tell me I did it in a residential or near school. Red light cameras I can take. Speeding cameras I think are BUll efing schidt.
Can I get in trouble for sending a little note on what I think of their cameras along with the payment?
In arizona, they have to serve you in person. Who says you ever got it right?
Steve
Sounds good, somehow I don't think it would work in MD. I didn't even know they HAD these things in MD. I see all the time where they vote in favor of ditching the redlight cameras, but they let these things exist???
We all need to write to our congressmen and tell them about the speed-zoned areas that should not apply to us as individuals. Congressmen need to consider the fact that we drive Vettes; we are not driving Caravans or Astrovans.
These speed zones are made for them, not for us. Also, instruct your kids that they do not have to slow down unless they want to. Same as daddy.
I must have had too many cups of sarcastic-flavored coffee today.

Actually, I wasn't driving my Vette- use the rest of your weekend to work on your sarcasm, because it sucks.
Europe is loaded with them! I don't think we've seen the end of them in America though. I would also bet you wouldn't be the first to include a nasty note. The circular file is overflowing in some office somewhere.
I read a post on CVF that mentioned how they actually make the accident rate go up due to rear enders. Don't know that for a fact, but I'd venture to say we'll see more cameras in the future.
You must understand the rational behind these cameras. In DC the vendor (Rockwell) provides them FREE to the District. The District only gets a very small percentage of the ticket (usually 20% or less) the balance goes to the vendor. It is a HUGH cash cow for these companies and absolutely FREE income with no capital investment or maintenance costs to the municipality. If you were the mayor or city council and were approached with this type of a proposal what would you do?? The District won't even send anyone to court if you protest they only send an employee from the contractor which is not an LEO. Because of this issue they typically don't give points only but just collect fines.
From what I understand in California they are required to take three pictures. One in front, back, and side. All the pictures must show the plate number and that is why I don't put on the front plate. I figure it's cheaper to get a no plate ticket. Also I rather give my money to the city than to those bastards who set up the cameras.
In Korea they sell a camera detector. Since the whole country has gone camera crazy, some smart guy came out with one. I think it picks up the camera's radar signature.

In LA, majority of the cameras are "donated" by Hughes, which is GM own majority of the shares. Go figure
