Build sheets are internal plant production documents, and serve a purpose besides owners figuring out what equipment is on their car; it tells the workmen how to build your car. The owner understanding what's on the build sheet is a very low priority for GM.
The block titles should be pretty self explanatory...if they're not, then someone on the inside is going to have to help you. Most of the four digit numbers in the labeled blocks mean nothing to outsiders anyway...if they were the last four digits of the part number, they might mean something, but I've never researched the numbers. The NCM might be able to help you if there is a critical need.
If somebody types out a short course on GM production codes, and posts it, then we'll be able to tell you where to find it. Since no single owner has access to all those codes from build sheets, it would have to be a cooperative team effort of many owners with different body styles and options...I doubt that's going to happen.
If you have a specific question, a few of us will be happy to take a shot.

Well stated. I would be happy to help where possible.
The fascination with build sheets really stems from people restoring cars. If you're restoring an old SS396, they want to know if the optional ash tray light is original or not.
On a new Vette, the point is moot. You will not discover anything about your car that will be helpful or make it unique.
Thanks all!
I will try to come up with specific questions.
I keep reading posts that refer to numbers I am not familiar with.
When I look at the build sheet these are not referenced.
I see all kinds of references to models and codes I dont understand and when I look at the build sheet nothing matches. Give me a little time and I will post some specifics. I appreciate the help!
I got the build sheet (actually I think it is more correctly called the broadcast sheet) for my 2008 when I did the buyer's tour -- actually the one they gave me was a spare, I believe because the ones with the chassis and body stayed in their respective positions. It all seemed self explainitory. The sheet has my VIN and sequence number, and boxes for the type of steering column, wire harness(es), ECM, radio, seats, wheels, and on and on. As was said it basiclly told the assembly workers which parts to put on the car.

Reason: spelling
Example, What is or does A6 Z51 mean? Not on the build sheet.
I see references to all kinds of stuff regarding a C6 Z51 like this.
What is A6?
I have been driving vettes for 8 years but cant seem to understand all the references that keep popping up.
For the record my current car is an 06 Z51 The (CSN) number on the build sheet is 1YY0304954.
VIN is 1G1YY26U565108698.
But I see all kinds of references like A6.
I am trying to understand all these references that I have never heard I will post more specific questions as they come up.
Thanks All!

A6 Z51 means Automatic 6-speed transmission with RPO Z51 performance package.

A6 is an abbreviation for the 6 speed automatic transmission. First offered on the the 2006 C6. Your past Corvette experience won't always help.
Z51 is the RPO code for the Z51 performance package
Regarding "A6" as a reference to the 6-speed automatic transmission, be aware that the "A6" moniker is not GM lingo; it's an abbreviation that is used within the Corvette community including here. The "official" GM RPO code for the Corvette's 6-speed automatic is "MX0"; that's what you'll see on the build sheet. The build sheet for a Corvette equipped with a manual transmission and the Z51 Performance Handling Package will show "MZ6" for the transmission. Manual transmission without the Performance Handling Package will show "MN6".
