Default Average mph?

With almost a year into having my 2007 Z51 C6, I noted today that my average speed has been 35.2 mph and I started wondering what other owners average speed has been for a given period of time and if I am fast, slow, or average.

What say you friends?

My 10 mo old 07 still averages about 20mpg but that includes a lot of [spirited] city driving.

Oops you said mph, I guess I'll need to check that tonight too, probably a lot higher.

I usually reset when I fillup, so it varies... on my last little cruise up north of Santa Barbara I managed 68.1...

My DIC says 22.3 mph avg, but i only drive one mile to work and one mile back, plus round trip home for lunch. So that's 4 miles a day, plus i do a Vette cruise with a bunch of other Vettes once a month thats a avg of around 150 miles a cruise.

I reset every gas tank. It is usually between 28 and 30 mph.

Just turned 2000 miles on the 08. 44 mph for all driving. 13 miles to work on 2 lane at 55 mph, then back.

I'm at 20 mph after 9 months and 6000 miles - my work is only 2.5 miles with probably at least 10 traffic lights.

Gotta check, but I'm guessing about 14 mph. Streets suck around here.

If you do a lot of highway driving it will be higher. Mine is 28. Mostly city driving.

It depends on how many highway miles you drive compared to in-town miles...there is no "normal" number.

Over a little more than two years, most of the my driving TIME has been spent on city streets, but most of the MILES have been run up on several long distance trips. I never zero one trip odometer, the average speed, or the average fuel mileage. I haven't checked the instruments recently, but the total mileage is about 4900 miles, and average speed is around 41-43 mph. Average fuel mileage over this period is about 22-23 mpg. FWIW.

If you use your car as a daily driver in town, and you are agressive in your driving, your average speed may be significantly lower and your mileage will be similarly reduced.

Yep I agree with JmpnJckFish. Coming up on 20K miles. I avg around 18mpg and 38 mph with a split between side road twisters and Hwy. Sure enjoy them twisters. On long Hwy trips it is common for me to get better then 25mpg.

With a daily commute of three miles it stays pretty low. But I do have a 20 hour period at 72.5 mph & 16 hours at 75.63 mph average on a run to Denver and back.
