Default Chicklet Removal Tip

I removed my GM "chicklets" today. I had read several posts on removing them, but I was stubborn and did it differently.
I heated up the badges with a blow dryer then pried the badge off with a plastic freezer scraper ( what comes with some refrigerators ).
I then heated the leftover adhesive up, then scraped off the majority of the gunk with my fingernails.
I then used Windex and a dishtowel to get the residue off.
Just thought I would post this, in case someone was reluctant to use Goo Gone, etc. on their finish. Also, I don't fish and had no fishing line. It was nice to do a "mod" that cost zero dollars.
BTW, the missing badges look great on my LMB!

3M makes an adhesive remover for automotive paints. It is something I always keep handy.

Nice tip. Thanks.

I prefer not applying any heat to the paint nor do I use any floss or fishing line on the badge's. I just soak the badge with WD-40 and use a similar plastic scraper, as you described. Once a corner is broken loose, the rest come's off failry easy. I'm not concerned with using Goo Gone, it does the trick with left over stubborn adhesive residue and doesn't harm the finish.

Personally, I don't scrape anything on my black paint. I used fishing line but heard even dental floss might work. I also use the 3M adhesive remover. It took a few minutes to get it off but there are NO marks. I just went and looked with a mag glass.

3M adhesive remover is good stuff, just not available at every store. I got mine at an auto paint store. I use it to remove wax before sealing/waxing my car.

Heat from a hair dryer is not hot enough to hurt your paint. The engine generates more heat and so does the Texas sun. Within reason....I suppose if you removed the guard on the hair dryer and nearly touched the coil to the paint you could do damage but if you're that dumb, you deserve to bubble your paint!

My chicklets has a place on the side of the roller tool box with other Corvette emblems, Lotus emblems, etc....Every car I like leaves its mark.

I must be the only one who likes the look of the so called Chiclets. to me it breaks up the monotony of the solid look. I do understand removing it , i like it though. Scraping it off sounds like a recipe for disaster on such a pretty paint job. Can't imagine you can be careful enough not to scratch the paint in the surrounding area.

Wouldn't removing the chicklets invalidate the 100K warranty?

i took mine off right away...my wife is a loyal GM bigshot and wasn't thrilled...

if i knew it was going to be this easy i would have taken the body-side moldings off my c5 back in '02.

imho, c5 and c6 corvettes have great lines and and don't really seem to need these add-ons

Heat.
Floss badge off.
Heat the goo.
Roll goo off with your fingers.

No chemical remover needed.

BTW: Fingernails can scratch the paint.

Easiest solution:

Simply pull the chicklet back & use a razor blade to cut the backing - obviously be careful of the paint. This takes about 15 seconds. All you have left is the emblem tape. I scraped the majority off with my fingernail & used Goo-Gone for the rest. There was zero negative affect of the Goo-Gone. All-in-all took about 4 minutes & the best mod so far (if you can really call it a mod). Definitely looks cleaner without the coveted GM emblem.
