Default Build Date

Hi all,

Just purchased a new 2008 Corvette (VR, 3LT,Z51,NPP and factory chome wheels). Wanted to know if there is any way to determine the build date.

I traded in a 2006 Corvette and although it was a wonderful car, there are some major improvements in the 08. Never been happier with a new car.

I have always wondered the same thing. I wasn't lucky enough to get mine in Bowling Green. I picked my 06 up from a Chevy dealer here in Dallas.

Anyway to tell on the car? Or is this something we have to look up via the VIN #?

You can go to the thread below and ask Ken for the Event Code and Target Production Week (TPW). If you just ordered it, it may not even have a TPW yet. I think it needs to get to 3000 before you get a TPW.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1216163

Of course, the TPW is always subject to change.

Sorry, I misread your first post. I thought you were looking for the future build date of an order, not the build date of a car you already have.:o

You can't look up the VIN to find out when it was built. Only someone with access to the GM system can look it up and get the build date.

Send a PM to GMautotech, along with your email address, VIN, and what info. you want (build date). Here's a link to his profile.

I have my build sheet --cant seem to find the build date though-- can you tell me where on the sheet it is?? I know all build sheets for the C6's are of a standard design, so mine should be the exact same as youre xcept for the fill in the blanks. HELP!

Your build sheet must be very different from mine. Mine has no dates on it whatsoever.

He might have meant the invoice that the GM system outputs to the dealer. I have a copy of mine and it has dates..

Unfortunately your build sheet will not contain your build date. The build sheet is the process sheet with the recepie for your specific car. it is broadcast to the plant a little over a week or two before the car comes down the line. They used to be faxed and that date was in the header which was often mistaken for the build date. As was mentioned, the only way to get the actual build date is via the GM VIS which only a dealership can access.

I emailed the Museum my vin (Betty Hardison betty@corvettemuseum.com - 800-538-3883)a few weeks after my delivery and she got back to me the same day with the date. That was 2 years ago.

If your dealer had the foresight to make a copy of the "Certificate of Origin for a Vehicle" for you, it is on that. It also has the VIN and the original order number (even thought it has only letters)
