1. Mine seems flakey also. No wait. I have an 07 and your 08 is supposedly vastly improved. 
I'm always waiting for it to shift up. On the other hand, I have a Pontiac that always shifts too soon. At least the Corvette is adaptive. The shift points change based on how you drive it. And it also seems to me that the adaptation is different from D to S. When I first got mine it was fine in both. Then I started using S only and it learned what speeds I drive and how I accelerate to those speeds and it adapted by running higher RPM. So I shifted to D and it was fine for a while but now delays upshifting again.
2. Silicone heat sink grease from Radio Shack.
3. One more reason I will never buy any black car.
4. Don't have an opinion. Mine are fine.
5. Get the FOB away from the dash. The receiver is in the door column. You also weren't in the recall for bad FOB receivers, were you?
