After reading and hearing several complaints about the life expectancy of the stock Goodyear tires and then seeing some here on the forum say they had new cars delivered that were out of alignment I decided to have mine checked.
Well, I took mine in and my results were 3 of the 4 wheels were out of GM specs! And that is with only 4,500 miles on the car. Yes I have hit some of the potholes we are famous for here in SoCal but nothing dramatic.
I would say spending $75 to prolong the life of a +$450 tire is well worth it. I have the Z51 package so I have the F1 supercar tires which I have seen in some places as much as 600 bucks!

Even with a PERFECT alignment that is "spot on" the exact settings, you may not have eliminated the extra wear on the inside edge of your tires. If you set the camber to the stock setting, the inside edge is still going to go away before the outside.
So...
What did you set the camber on your wheels? -0.45 for coupe and convertible or -0.60 for the Z06. Those are the stock settings.
To get long mileage from the tires, you need to drop the camber down to -0.1.
All 4 of mine were off in some form or another. As far as Camber settings, if you go out and play with the car in the twisties a bit as opposed to straight line cruising, the factory camber settings will result in even wear. My last car had a rear camber spec of -1.6 and a front of -.8 and the tires wore perfectly even in 20K miles. it DID get exercised though!
But maybe a dumb question, if you get exteneded wear at -0.1 what is the advantage of having it up at -0.4? Better traction?
What will I lose if I have them adjust it to -0.1?
Brian
modshack says it. The stock settings are great for twisties, aggresive driving, and road racing. The -0.1 is what you want for plain old highway driving and mileage.

My recent alignment. 5600 miles, no potholes hit:
These specs are not factory correct according to the printout I have.

Elmer, why don't you post him the settings that you put up in the tech section this past week. I had my alignment done after you e-mailed them to me. Car handles much better on the highway.

Lingenfelter does a 4 wheel alingment with their performance packages. The mechanic at my local Chevy dealer said my Vette was the best tracking Vette he has driven. I guess all Vette's need the work. :
