Default new guy here. can someone breakdown the differnt models?

Buy this time next year I will be able to pay off my truck ( thanks to a X-mas bonus) At this time I will be in the market for my next spots car. I sold my 04 Mach1 mustang in order to buy my first house this summer. That was a sweet car.. 305 HP.

Now I wont settle for anything under 400.

C6 Vette?? So does anyone have a simple breakdown of what the differnt models are? I know Z06. But whats Z51?
Thanks for the help.

Its not so bad over here on the dark side

first check out www.corvette.com (gm's site)

I have the 08 A6 Z51 and love it.

The Z51 option is a different suspension (sway bars, springs, and shocks), brakes, tires, and extra coolers. The manual Z51 has different gearing in the trans specifically designed for acceleration. The A6 Z51 comes with an optional 2.73 gear, but that gear is also available as an option to any A6 car.

Z51 has upgraded suspension, brakes and different gearing. F55 is the magnetic ride control. The drivetrain (other than Z51 gearing) is the same for all the non-Z06 cars. Although there is the NPP exhaust option that gains you a few horsepower.

Short version is you have what we call the "Regular C6" and the Z06. Z06 is bad-*** **** for lots of dough.

The base model comes in four flavors, or trim levels.

1LT is the basic car.

2LT is the same as the 1LT but you get sport seats, dual power seats, side air bags, and a cargo net.

3LT is everything in a 2LT plus heated seats, Bose stereo, Heads Up Display, Power telescoping wheel, and memory seats.

4LT is a new option package for 08 that you would be hard pressed to get because of constraints. gets you a different leather trim package. Ugly as hell to me but some people like it.

Any of the three models you can get the Z51 package which gets you quicker gearing in the tranny, oil and tranny cooler, and a stiffer suspension geared towards auto crossing or other track type events.

On any of the trim levels you can get a solid color removable roof, a clear tinted roof panel, or both.

Rims can be had at any trim level. Basic are painted silver, optional painted comp grey, optional polished, and optional chrome which are the same as previous years, except 05 where chrome was not available, just a milky polished wheel. Both the painted options and the polished are new styles for 08 however the silver painted were available on pace cars from last year.

3LT can get the basic suspension, Z51 suspension, or the F55 option which is a selective ride control. You have a **** on the center console that lets you choose the type of ride you get. Sport, Touring, and something in between which the name escapes me.

3LT and above can also choose to get the Navigation radio.

In 08 and above models, any of the three trim levels can also get the NPP exhaust option which in my opinion is the chit. When the engine is under a specific load, butterfly valves open up in the muffler tips that allow exhaust to bypass the normal chamber and you get increased sound and increased exhaust flow. Kinda like the cut-outs that people put in aftermarket.

08 models also have the LS3 engine where as earlier models have the LS2.

That's all I can think of at the moment but I am sure others will chime in.

Z06 is the 505 Hp car with a fixed roof and a wide body, it is also the highest price vette out there. All other c6's come with the 400hp, other than the new 08's which have the 430-436 HP. As for the Z51, this is a performance option and does not change the factory HP. It has better tires, suspension, brakes, and coolers that makes it a better track car. The Z51 option is availabe in the coupe or the vert, auto or MN6. It also has quicker shift points for faster performance off the line. if you can keep it from braking lose. Most people will never see faster 1/4 miles times regardlees of which option they get. This is just a break down, read other post for more info. As for you 04 stang, it's not even on the same planet as the c6 vette!

Welcome future owner.

DESPITE what some will tell you, Z51 is NOT a model, it's just a performance option package for the Corvette. It's available on either the coupe or the convertible. It adds a few extra coolers (transmission, brake, etc.) as well as stiffer shocks, cross drilled rotors and different rear end gearing. Well worthe exrta cash.

The basic Corvette Models are:
1. Coupe
2. Convertible
3. Z06 (there are those that will say that this too is just an option package, but since it comes with a completely different frame, I, as well as GM, say it's a separate car.
4. ZR-1 (this car has yet to be released to the public but it's probably the worst kept secret since the invention of sliced bread.)

2-year-old coupe, probably. No vert less than 3 years old or any Z06 for that amount. And oh, welcome to the madness that is Corvette appreciation. Waiting, wishing, and shopping is half the fun (not really, driving is where its at. )
