luckily i have found the ultimate tint guy--but he's in the bronx and i live in jersey so its an alllllll day affair when i go--his names lorenzo and if any would like his info pm me--he's done all my cars---the man is an artist with tint--he wont even tint the car until he washes it--he did the back window in my Z06 as one piece first shot--no bubble and no little white cirlce marks---it did take him a while and he's not cheap--the back hatch alone ran about 400 bucks but it was well worth it--its actually like looking in a mirror--when he does your door he actually pulls the panels off and takes the glass out so its perfect then replaces the pieces in the door with soft felt ones not to scratch the tint on raising and lowering the window--he is bar none the only person i would let tint anything--his web site is www.lorenzotintny.com and in the gallery he actually has pics of my grand cherokee srt8, the back window of my 04 Z06 and my little brothers 997 911 turbo--i would say within two weeks every window on my white ls3 coupe with be 5%--i hope some of you check him out

watched my guy do mine (came to the house on a saturday) $200. took over two hours and did the black vinyl on the dot matrix method. it's as close to perfect as i've seen. can recommend him to anyone in the dfw area. he does the tint for the area lamborghini dealership.
taking the windows out is old school. but do what you wanna do to get it done right. Having someone who is known for GREAT work is rare. stick with that if your happy.
To update my tint work this afternoon...It took him just shy of two hours to do the Vette, and the back is one single piece of film. It was after dark when he got it finished, but under garage lights it looks quite good for fresh tint. The matrix area doesn't look bad, and hopefully will be even better following a couple days in the sun. He used some type of scouring pad over the dot matrix prior to tinting. I got 35% tint, which puts it about as close to SC limit as possible.

They person I had do my old Firehawk used this method, and it always stuck out like a sore thumb to me, being a black car. On it, you could clearly see the untinted glass regardless of the matrix pattern. The pattern just wasnt tight enough on it to make up for the lack of tint.
LOL. yeah sometimes the dots are soo tight together its close to tint as much possible. BUT some cut the tint out of the dots because even if they arent close, its better than having tint there on them and having the tint peel back. Some use the black vinyl like stated above. either way everyone uses there own special way to tint. Its just fun to watch and learn.. all the tint looks good in the photos boys. If anyone is from NC (raleigh) or surrounding areas, I worked at sun protection. If you need tint hook ups..let me know. im sure they will work something out. Connections help.
So, for those of you in CA...where did you get your tint done? & did they black out the matrix w/ vinyl? My car is barely a month old & the guy who did my tint did not do a good job (2 times). I'm so disappointed...it's embarrassing to drive a vette w/ a less than perfect tint job...

I'm not happy with mine either. Don't want to take it back, because I'm not sure they could do any better. And believe me, it was not cheap!
I need a new place to go that can do the vinyl film over the dots in the L.A. or surrounding area. I don't mind the drive if they do a good job!
Even the really good guys have a hard time covering the dots. They are unpredictable. Our shop couldn't promise a tight contact on the dots. But keep bringing it back, they should keep trying and finish right.
