I have a TPW of today, 11/12. I know that a vette takes 30 - 36 hours to build, and that BG only works one shift
does the TPW mean that my car begins production this week, or that it will end production this week? for example, if it begins production this week on Thursday or Friday, it will be completed next week

Target Production Week
This is the week that the factory is forecasting that your car is going to go down the line.
They start building cars five days a week. They do work some Saturdays, but not too often. In that case they start cars six days that week. Cars started on Friday or Saturday sit on the line over Sunday, or the days they don't work due to Holidays, and they exit the line on the next workday.
The original question remains unanswered -- is TPW the target week to commence production, or to complete production?
To my knowledge it means that your car should be built SOMETIME during that week, but since it's not set in stone, I imagine there ARE cars that bleed over from a friday into the next week.

my C6 had a TPW of 10/15, it actually came off the line and was bayed on 10/22

My understanding is that it's the week the car is scheduled to go onto the production line, i.e. begin production. Cars that go on-line on Thursdays or Fridays will likely be completed early the following week.

TPW is when they plan on the car hitting the line. It could run a little sooner or a little later. A car that hits the line on Friday may have to sit the weekend and be completed on Monday.
Well Dave, now I've got to pipe up since I also have a TPW of 11/12 and I'm getting confused.
What do you mean by "hitting the line"? Is that when the car comes off the aerial conveyor system, hits the ground and is able to roll out of the plant?
I hope it doesn't mean that's the week it will start on the assembly line because I don't see how it could "hit the line" on Friday and be completed on Monday.

TPW as was stated is Target Production Week (the operative word here being Target.)
It means that if everything goes according to plan your car will start being assembled into what will resemble the Corvette that you ordered during that week. Please remember that painted parts, engine sub-assembly, frames and such are common to all cars of a particular model. These sub assemblies start in their respective departments some time previous.
It takes approximately 36 hours to assemble a Corvette. 10 of those hours are paint shop hours and will have been done prior to the build sheet for your car hitting the assembly line.
If your car assembly starts on the line on Friday morning it will likely come off the line late Monday or Tuesday. Remember, it isn't your Corvette until they start putting your specific options together on it. Prior to that it is simply a rolling chasis common to all Corvettes in your body style.
You TPW of today means that your car start to be assembled sometime in this target week. Week beginning 11/12.

Mine was very close to being finished last Friday. It had two hours left on the line today. It's TPW was 11-12-07. The TPW is the week it should come off the line.

same timing on mine, it was finished the Monday after it's TPW

This is what happen to mine. It hit the line the Friday before the TPW and was done around noon on Monday of the TPW. I have an e-mail from Kevin Terrance confirming this. Too bad he doesn't do this any longer.
Does anyone here know how many Corvettes are completed per day? I'm getting the idea that "production" means completion, so TPW means Targeted Completion Week, since we've had a couple of examples of cars being completed on the first day of the TPW.
You can see that I'm wishfully thinking that mine will be completed this week!
