Anything over 105 mph and my top starts flapping. It's an 05 and I understand improvements have been made to the tops since then. If I absolutely, positively feel the need for speed the top goes down first.
A little over 160 mph on a closed course in my 06 vert with the top up. The noise from the wind hitting the top kept me from wanting to go any faster. 130 mph with the top down my eyes and ears felt like they were bleeding
130+ mph with top down going across Mojave Desert en route to Las Vegas every weekend. I love it!
I had prescription goggles made similar to those worn by basketball players but with a sleek, more stylish design. Unlike those who whine about buffeting, I really dig the wind hitting my face and I love the sun. I do coat my bald head, neck, arms etc with sun screen but for me the whole point of owning a vert is to drive fast topless!
I have had 174 showing on the HUD on a superspeedway, and it felt as though there was a little bit left (in the car, but not in me!). At that level "a little bit" may be only a very few more MPH. I had the top up, and it was pulling up off the rear deck a tiny bit - you could hear it more than see it - but no real problems with flapping or with fit problems after the high speed runs. GM says 186 MPH is top end for the C6 convertible. I think under the right conditions that is reachable.
