I got home from BG on Sat. and had to start poking around.
When I changed the oil filter, I noticed that on the engine side of the firewall--about where your feet would be with legs extended, on both sides--there are 2 each alluminum foil/tape pads, about 3" square. On one side, 1 pad covers a 3/4" hole, but on the other side, the pad was applied to only cover 1/2 of the hole. So, is this pad suposed to cover or seal this hole? or do the pads have any other purpose? These are visible from underneath.
I noticed them applying these foil "pads" when I watched my car being built....our guide, a retired engineer from the plant speculated that they were covering some frame holes that could cause a noise or whistle at speed....dont know...not that solidly applied. Anyone know for sure what their function is?
I got a reply from the museum and they think they are a sound deadener pad, and that the holes should be seled on the passenger side of the firewall. ???
Hmmm, they must have responded to my request for holes so I could run my wideband cable into the interior. Seriously, are they in a good location for this. Running a cable from the precat area into the interior of the car. I don't have my car yet so I can't fully comprehend where the location of these holes are at. Thanks for any clarification.
