Default Corvette Optional Armrest Accessory

Does anyone know if the accessory armrest available from Chevy (the leather covered one with the C6 logo) is padded? I called two dealerships and they didn't know. If so, it looks like a decent deal for about $129. Thanks.

I have felt it and in my opinion it is not padded. It seems like it is just covered and it had the same hardness as the stock arm rest.

It is not padded. You have to buy it then ship it to DSV and they will pad it for you.....and add any custom work you want while they are at it.

I bought my console cushion from Mid America Motorworks for $100.
It's a do-it-yourself project.
You just take apart the console lid & install the leather cushion over the top of the original plastic one.
I like mine a lot.

Yea its not padded, although it is a little softer feeling than the stock piece. One thing though I have noticed with mine, is the logo that is sewn on itches my arm some. Reminds me of having a patch sewn on a jacket, mine is that rough.

Default Thanks for the Feedback

Thanks, I think I'll pass. My primary interest was in it being padded, and not the logo.

Default Mid-America Motorworks Console Covers

Hey "car2fast4u", that console cover from MidAmerica looks really nice. Any issues staying in place since it's adhered with tape?

You can get it thru Gene Culley for much less.

I got a PM from another forum member about that very subject. He bought the Gm version because of the high price from DVS. He then contacted DVS about having padding inserted into it and they still wanted $220. He and I decided to stay with what we have.

So far, so good.
Although I've only had it for about a month.

I really worked at the leather top (and the vinyl sides) to stretch the material tight & give it a good fit.

I've seen some photos on CF of other Vettes that have the same cushions, and theirs didn't look as good.
I think it's real important to take your time & to make sure you get the best fit possible.

I also figured that if I stretched & softened up the material, it would be less likely to pull off the tape.
We'll see how it holds up.

The GM accessory console cover isn't really padded any more than the OEM console cover. If you want padded, the best course of action is to send it to Gerardo at Down South Vettes and let him work his magic. While not the logo unit, here is my two tone red and black leather cover that Gerardo made for me alond with a side by side comparison with my OEM cover that I removed.

I have the same Mid-America one in all ebony except purchased from Corvette Central. I agree DSVs is better but I was too cheap to spend that much money. Mine is just fine after a year. Just take your time putting the cover on and it will come out fine. If you have no patience then go with the DSV unit.
