Definitely call me Monday and we will take care of you! Don't know what happened but you will need a new upper box for sure!! We will replace it or you can return the kit for a full refund(including all shipping charges)! Have not seen a box warp quite that much! Sorry for the problem! Call me Monday!!!!

Looks like the quality has not improved since the C5 days. For me it's not worth to ruin an engine due to dirt and debris bypassing the filter.

Maybe I jumped to a wrong conclusion. I stand corrected.

Your first post could have had more information in it.
It would be my error not the sites. What's a DSM Terror?
I am searching for a life at Red Sox and Patriots games.

I agree, could have been worded slightly better. No harm no foul.
DSM= Diamond Star Motors(eclipse, talon, laser). Terror= Front wheel drive plymouth laser with no ground effects, hubcaps and a car seat that puts down 400 to the front tires!

I appreciate your post. Thanks!
I am considering this intake but am having second thoughts. It's the fact that it "works" that keeps me interested, but it is ashamed about the quality. And even worse, the low standard of expectation for quality that some clearly have. It's no wonder they get defensive; they FEEL personally attacked. ...and this is to the advantage of the vendors because these folks are in effect, indirectly defending poor quality, which doesn't serve to compel them to fix it.

I appreciate the fact that Vararam seems stand behind its products, but isn't this what vendors are suppose to do?
If I purchase one of these intakes it will be inspected very carefully before it goes on my car.

Spoke to Steve today at Vararam and as others suggested, he seems like a stand-up guy. He offered to send me another box and test it. If I choose to send it back in spring (I am in OHIO after all!) he will refund my money. I am going to give it another shot to see how it goes.

Thanks Steve!!

First off .. welcome to the forum. Don't let a knee jerk reaction from some on here distract from the overall goodness that is here...

Many posers to be found trolling... so you can't blame them sometimes..
Thanks for posting the pics... Looks like the vendor is offering to check out your problem... Seems like you came to the right place..

330Racing,

First of all don't jump all over us for what you stated and please look at what you posted which brought us all down on you. Where in that post did you say I am going to tell the buyer that the product is defective, son we weren't born yesterday. To sell a product do you think you tell people it is defective, who the hell will buy it. So please don't insult our intelligence. When the only solution to your problem was to work with Vararam which is an outstanding company (I had an issue and they wanted to address it immediately but Corvette Garage sent me a missing template) rather then to say I am going to sell it.

Looking at the picture, it shows that you had the snake charmer installed. Now why would you install the product if it was defective as from the pictures the two sides would not have even connected with each other?

Were you sure that the two sides were joined together properly? Just asking as you are the only one to report a problem with this product.

Once again (HawaiiC6):

Where did I say I WOULDN'T tell someone. I have seen people buy defective things many times. WTF do you think a "scratch and dent" sale is at a retail store? Obviously if I was going to try to sell it and NOT disclose its problems I wouldn't come in here complaining and posting pictures! Between your logic and your sentence structure your intelligence does not need insulting ("When the only solution to your problem was to work with Vararam which is an outstanding company (I had an issue and they wanted to address it immediately but Corvette Garage sent me a missing template rather then to say I am going to sell it."...wtf is that?).
Further, maybe you need to learn to read? I said it was slightly warped when I received it but it got worse. I am done with you since you are the only "person" still on this. Always one in the bunch.....
So for those of you who aren't paranoid delusional, thanks for your support. Hopefully this is resolved.

Hawaii...pm me if you want to discuss any of this further. I am done arguing like a little child on the internet with someone I don't know and who does not know a thing about me, and I am sure no one else wants to read it either.

Same thing happened to me, I spoke with Steve and he said there was a bad batch from the molding company. He sent me a new top piece and seals. There was no visible leaks, but they still took care of me

Well, this has always been interesting to me. I have been reading about this for years. Vararam gets high performance ratings, less than stellar quality ratings. Many don't get one because of this continual theme. I have always wondered why they didn't improve the quality and capture it all?

They are a forum vendor, I have never made a negative comment about them, and am not doing so now. This has just always intrigued me.

Apparently, many of you have never installed anything on your car yourself. If I saw a problem with the product, I would have called the manufacture before it was installed. I have pesonally installed a cold air intake, of some sort, on every vehicle I have owned in the last 5 years: 08 corvette, 07 jeep, 07 avalache, 07 denali, 06 cady, 05 porsche, 05 wrx/sti, 05 bmw/m3, 05 chevy truck, 04 dodge/diesel and so on. They ranged from vararam, afe, vortex, volant, banks, airaid and k&n. The quality of these products have not been the greatest, because their plastic. But look what I'm paying $ per HP. For example, look at the k&n for the same price. The k&n has a small plastic spacer connected to its air filter for additional 10 HP. Vararam for the same price, has 50% more HP. Believe me, I just installed the vararam on my 08 (still in the breaking in period) and I am not endorsing this, by no means, because I have not dyno'd my corvette yet. Finally, here's my point. If you see something that doesn't look correct, don't install it! It's defective. Especially, with the support I have seen on this forum from vararam, they do a good job. Most companies wouldn't even call you back. Second, if GM made this product (ex: performance exhaust 6HP cost $1,195) it would cost you $2987.50 for this product. You get what you pay for and take some personal responsibity.

Yancyjohns:

Dont know your experience with cars but I'd be willing to bet I have done just as much if not more. It was only slightly warped when I got it and I installed it because I figured that is just the way it was (like you said it IS plastic after all)and it looked like it should still seal. It got WORSE and then didn't seal. I think it is funny that you say "you get what you pay for" So it is ok to sell a defective product as long as you don't charge much for it? I have many plastic product that don't deform. Your logic is weak.

Further,
How is being upset that a product is not what it is advertised to be not taking personal responsibility? So I should take responsibility for Vararam's product being defective? That makes no sense.

Again, someone blindly defending a paying sponsor of the website. So far Steve has treated me fine but I should't have this problem in the first place. But I guess according to your logic it is my fault.
