Just our own speculation.

One of C5's driving goals was to keep the cost down -- a C5 wasn't supposed to cost more than a C4.
Two of C6's goals are weight reduction and improvement of the richness of the interior. It will be difficult to meet those goals without increasing cost.
I am fearful that the base Corvette as it exists today (e.g. 1SA) will cease to exist in the next generation -- so, technically, feature for feature the C6 may not cost more but you won't be able to get a Corvette for less than $45,000 because the equipment levels of 1SB and QF5 will be included.
