I have searched this forum for any info on this problem but didn't find any thing on this question.
Does anyone have a fix for what I think is excessive wind noise when the speed reaches 65mph and up? The top is as tight as it should be. That is to say no loose material or sags. The top does not leak when going thrugh a touchless carwash. [ I know, you are never sad upposed to use those things] but I have to drive about 1/2 mile on gravel and don't like to drive a dusty vette in public. Anyway the wind noise seems to be coming from the passenger side.. I don't think it is tire noise but I suppose it's possible. Any thoughts on this will be greatly appreciated. This is my twevleth vette so I am familarl with most noises with these neat cars. Thanks
I do not have the answer, but I know it can be fixed. I have pretty much the same issue you do, however a good friend has next to no wind noise in his Vert.
If you find an answer, please pm me in case I miss it in this thread.
My 05 Vert, with 34,500 miles is as quiet as the day I bought it.
MUCH quieter that a couple.
Even at 100+ mph it's real quiet.
Hardly any wind noise, some tire-on-the-road noise though.

I have very little wind noise with my vert. I am very happy with how quiet it is!
I have had 3 verts 03 06 08. All have turbulence you can hear outside the side windows(side mirrors) and you can hear the back area below the rear window It is not air coming in, you can hear the buffeting. If it is a problem then it was the exact same in each car that I have owned.
My Vert is quiet...no issues regarding excess wind noise/buffeting. I've heard that in some verts that there is an excess gap in the trunk lid seam that is closest to the top...caused by how the trunk lid was attached to the hinges. The fix is either reposition the trunk lid OR take a piece of nylon cord about 3/8" in diameter, cut to the length of the width of the trunk lid and put it in the channel. It can't be seen and eliminates the air space that causes the wind noise that comes from behind the cockpit. It's a cheap/easy solution that's worth a try. If it doesn't work for you, throw it away and try a recommendation from another post to your thread! Good luck!
I don't have that issue, so I'm grabbing at straws. With your Corvette experience, could it be where the top meets the decklid on the passenger side? Maybe it's not a tight seal there.
Also, I'm sure you've done it, but why not re-index the windows just to be sure they're up all the way when the doors close.
Tell us what you find out. I don't know if your local Chev dealer has such a person but possibly a convertible top place knows/has heard or seen this issue before. It could be a 2 minute fix (or worse, let's hope not).
Hmm, thinking about it some more...how about checking all the weather stripping around the bottom, front leading edge, etc. Compare it with the passenger door-see if they're the same pieces and fitting the same way.
I have an 07 vert very quiet. Have you checked to make sure the window is going all the way up? The indexing of the windows can get off. Look at your owners manual for procedure to reset the windowws. It's worth a shot.
My vert had a window adjustment problem that was causing wind noise on the driver' side. As someone else said, compare the fit of the two sides (pre-index) and see what it looks like. I had one side where the window was too low by about 1/2" so it wasn't going high enough into the upper weatherstrpping (yes it was indexed properly).
I removed the door panel and adjusted the window up about 1/2" on the tracks in the front and back, no more noise.
I read a thread a while back where the guy was working with the trunk lid alignment, as the gap between the front of the trunk lid (nearest to the rag top) and rear upper body was a little excessive, so he covered the gap with tape and the wind noise went away. He then re-adjusted the trunk lid, closing the gap and it solved his problem.
Air will run over the top and into the trunk gaps. You might try the tape test to see if the gap is causing wind noise. My car's trunk lid is adjusted pretty equal on the gap all the way around and I have very little wind noise.

Whenever I got up to speed, the wind noise was incredible and seemed to be coming from the passenger side. I kept checking but everything looked ok. Then one day when I sped up to pass someone on the freeway, the noise increased to a near scream and then the whole roof panel flew off. It seems that the roof was defective and there has been a recall since then. No problems since changing this. Not sure if this is your problem but sounds very familiar.

07 would be under warranty. What has the dealer said about it?

He has a convertible, not a coupe.
I get some wind and road noise from mine...I sure don't consider it excessive. Actually, both were/are quieter than the coupes I've owned. Much less road noise.
Don't think the local dealer would have any idea what I was talking about. They only sell about one vett a year. I could try tho. Wouldn't cost anything.
Lay a strip of masking tape across the gap where your trunk lid meets the cloth top cover. If the noise goes away you've found that the gap between these two panels is to wide.
