Guys - I've probably set something wrong, but, the last two days, I have upon exiting the vehicle, heard 3 (count 'em 3) honks of the horn. The last time I heard that (on a previous car) it meant someone had set off the alarm. Has anyone heard of this or is my assessment correct?
Thanks... and sorry in advance for the dumb question...

From the Onwer's Manual:
DIC Personal Options
FOB Reminder: This option chirps the horn
three times when the driver’s door is closed and
there is a keyless access transmitter inside
the interior of the vehicle. This will only occur when
the vehicle is off.
Press the OPTION button until FOB REMINDER
appears on the display, then press the RESET
button to scroll through the following modes:
• YES
• NO (default)
If you choose YES, the horn will chirp three times
when a keyless access transmitter is inside of
the vehicle while the ignition is turned off and the
driver’s door is closed.
If you choose NO, this option will turn off.
When the mode you want is selected, press the
OPTION button to set your choice and advance to
the next personal option.

Either that, or sometimes the interior antenna "field" that looks for the presence of the fob, reaches outside of the car too far, and thinks the fob is in the car, when it may actually be outside of the car, in your pocket, if you are standing too near the car.
When you get out of the car and close the door, run away. Run fast. Run far. You only have 2 seconds after the door closes. (See post below).

There will also be three honks when you shut it off get out with FOB but don't close the door. Get back in with FOB and close the door.
If you've got the fob-left-in-the-car warning set and when you get out of the car (even with the fob), you leave the door open (like to pump gas), then when you get back in with the fob, the car "thinks" you left a fob in the car.
Close the door when you get out, then open it again when you get ready to get back in.
What year is your C6? Your profile doesn't indicate.
If you have a 2005 manual transmission car it means that you didn't shift to reverse prior to shutting the car off.
If you have a automatic or manual transmission of any year other than 2005 and you have the DIC fob reminder turned on it means (or thinks) that you left a key in the drivers compartment. There is an antenna behind the b pillar at around window level (fuel filler door height) that will search for the presence of a fob when you get out of the car. More and more are finding that if they exit the car a certain way they can trick the car in to thinking that the fob is still inside even though it has left the drivers compartment.

Looks like it is a 2008.

Can't be a 2005, because it is a Z06, so the reverse input in not required.
How did you pick up on it being a Z06 that I missed? His profile indicates an '04 Z06 but also talks to a "yellow vert" and black Z06. I didn't know if he didn't simply not update his profile since owning the C5's and I didn't want to assume.

My dealer has told me that is this caused by the car thinking that the fob is still in it. I have solved the problem by always walking to the back of the car when I get out. It seems that walking close to the front triggers the alarm as you are close enough to trick the sensor into thinking the fob was left inside. I have not had the problem since I started to walk to the back of the car. This was not my original thought, I got it from a previous thread on the forum.
Subject: Occasional No Fob Detected Message On DIC Or Key In Reminder When Key Fob Outside Of Vehicle - keywords chime chirp fob horn message no program RCDLR RKE transmitter #PIC4642 - (10/15/2007)
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment of an occasional "No Fob Detected" message displayed on the DIC when the fob is located somewhere on the driver's seat. They also may comment that the fob reminder (3 horn honks) is heard when exiting the vehicle with the key fob. This is because the original RCDLR software does not adequately cover the driver's seat and it can also detect the fob when it is slightly outside of the driver's door. New software will add a new zone to better cover the driver's seat, and it will also add a 2 second delay after the door closes before checking for the fob on the interior. This could affect all vehicles built prior to October 2007.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Important: Prior to programming per the information below, the Radio and HVAC Fuses MUST be removed and the ignition must be in "Key On Engine Off Mode" The radio and HVAC fuses can be located in the BCM fuse block on the passengers floor electrical center. One of the fuses is labeled RDO/S'BAND/VICS and the other is labeled HVAC/PWR SND.
Program the RCDLR with revised software using TIS-2-WEB "Pass Through" method. When programming, it is required to select "Replace and Reprogram ECU".
If programming phase does not finish successfully and the RCDLR appears to be in a "locked up" state do not turn off the ignition, the RCDLR can be reset by removing fuse 11 in the UBEC for 30 seconds. Reinstall the fuse. Make sure the Radio and HVAC fuses are pulled!! Attempt programming the module again. If the ignition was turned to OFF after the "locked up" condition occurred, it's possible to continue programming - simply add the VIN manually in TIS.
Use Labor Operation Number R9723 with a Labor Time of 0.4
Please NOTE the following two items: DO NOT REPLACE THE MODULE - JUST REPROGRAM IT. ALSO FOB PROGRAMMING AND TPM LEARN IS NOT REQUIRED.
For Model years 2005-2007, use software version 25927325.
For Model Year 2008, use software version 25927326

Follow up: I have the 25927325 calibration installed in my 2005, but I still sometimes get the 3 horn chrips. I guess I am not beating the 2 second clock. My next door neighbors with the new born, hate me.
