Default pen exploded

Well I had a ballpoint pen inside my center console, and I guess it leaked. So i have some black ink on the inside of it on the side a little bit. I wanted to know if anyone knew of any tricks to get out the ink, or an idea. I haven't tried anything so that i dont 'rub' it in more by trying with the wrong solution. Thanks!

I'd go to the grocery store and look for something that says it will remove ink from fabric. Well, first I'd ask the wife.

I'f need to find a wife really quick to ask her then haha

Yea, I just wanted to ask you guys and see if anyone had any experiennce with it before going out and experimenting for myself, to not make it worse......

Plus I have the Z51 , so it might be like special super plastic under the console.

(that was a joke, in case anyone didn't pick that up and wanted to start flaming:o )

Not being a wiseguy here, did you ask in the Car Care Section?

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=10

I would think those talented folks there would have a useful ideal for you. Good luck.

I think you're on to something with the Z51 correlation. The increased lateral acceleration resulting from the superior suspension components overcame the viscosity, interfacial tension, and surface tension of the ink, causing it to exit the open end of the pen.

Now, for the solution: if you don't get any good answers, I have found that Spray and Wash with Resolve works good on laundry stains. I know it's a stretch for your console but....

And I know it's not manly for men to know about laundry stuff, but my niece told me about it. That's my story.

I do believe that whatever will remove the ink will also remove or damage the inside surface of your console. Best of luck on removing the ink.

Very true but my thought was there are some hard core car care folks over there who don't usually come here very often. It was just a thought, I hope you find an answer.

I just asked my wife. She suggested rubbing alcohol saturated in a cotton ball and just keep blotting, carefully, slowly, often works on ink. Try it on an inconspicuous place first to make sure it won't damage the material. She said some people use hair spray the same way but she thinks it is the alcohol in the hair spray that does the job.

Good luck.

Asked my wife about this, and she gave me these two tips for removing ink stains from fabric (I think these tips are for ink stains on shirts/blouses/etc). I've not tried either one to see if they work. Hope you have good luck should you decide to try one or both of these tips. Because the stain in inside the console, you may have to get creative to find an alternative to steps #4:

Ballpoint Ink:
  1. Press a paper towel against the stain to absorb the wet ink.
  2. Using a cotton swab dipped in denatured alcohol, lightly dab at the mark.
  3. Rinse with cold water.
  4. Wash according to fabric.

Ink / Felt-Tip Pen
  1. Spray stain with hairspray.
  2. Sponge stain until any bleeding stops.
  3. Let dry and repeat if necessary.
  4. Launder in hottest water, using bleach safe for fabric.

Next time put Rejex on the entire interior of the car so nothing will stick to it.

Works every time for me. I had a pen blow all over the light tan interior of my truck recently and hair spray and Zaino leather cleaner did the trick.

My wife says hairspray removes ink from fabric. Not the aerosol type but the liquid variety in the pump spray bottle.

Good luck, I'm removing my pen from there asap.

Nice color...like mine.

Another thing to watch for is going up the mountains and back as large altitude changes will also cause some pens to leak also.

I don't have a suggestion to get the ink out of the car, but good luck!!

I'll bet the heat did it. Don't put ink pens in the bun warmer.

I have heard forum members being called all kinds of names, but never 'talented.' What is this world coming to?

Let's get down to the more important things about this post.

OP needs to notify the federal government. We have warnings on all kinds of things. The Vette, or maybe the pen, needs a large label indicating the dangers of leaving a pen in the console or glove compartment.

Class action suit against the little Chinese guy who made the pen??

LOL
