I need some good advise here. Within the last two weeks when I am ready to start the car I get an error message saying "FOB not detected". I read my manual and it says the battery is probably going bad.......so I put a new one in. And yes, it is still happening. Any ideas or words of wisdom? Thanks
Don't know what year you have (please fill in your profile) but this seems to be a larger issue with the '08's than previous years. Anyway, if it isn't the battery then it usually will be some kind of electric/electronic/radio interference issue. Where is this happening, is there strong source of electrical power nearby? Give more info and we might be able to provide more help.
Also be sure you don't have a cell phone charger plugged into the electrical outlet in your car. Where were you carrying the fob when you got the message? Just about any large object in the same pocket with the fob will block the signal.
Any other non-Vette electronic devices in the cabin when you got the message?
I have an 07. I have a car charger plugged in at the console but it happens without the phone attached to the charger. This happens in the garage, parked outside, in a parking lot...just about anywhere. I will unplug the charger and see how that works. Thanks for the help I will let you know what happens.
Chances are it is your FOB receiving unit...a common problem on the '07. I had the same problem with varying degrees of electronic failure. Last one resulted in total shutdown of the car and a tow. Dealer replaced the FOB receiver and loaded in updated software and it seems to have solved the problem...at least till next time. I believe there is a TSB on this.
I have an 07 and had this problem 3x in the last month and a half. The 1st dead battery/ no fobs found.
2nd possible ice/service engine, and 3rd I started the car to warm it up I took the fob and set it in the house 10 ft away, came back out and stopped the car, ( lites stayed on as well as interior displays.) Then I got a display, No Fob Off or Run.
Took the fob out to the car stopped it fully but now it does'nt start at all.
Has all signs of a dead battery. I will try to start it tomorrow.
Any guess out there what's up with it, IE battery, fob receiver, or what ? Getting to be a pain.

Reason: Change wording
I have had my car about 30 days, and haven't driven it because this horrible weather in the No. East. But I have added some things like door handles, spoiler from Atomic. I noticed sometimes if I go to accessory mode it doesn't see the fob.. I take it out of my pocket and show the car " HEY IT'S ME THE OWNER" it sees it, and it's good to go ....Reminds me of the Sony Directv RF remote sometimes I have to aim it all over the room for it to pickup...Seems quite similiar.
Well I've tried both Fobs 1 & 2 and still no go. I will still get the message no fobs found. I poasted a coment earlier re: my issue & hope someone would know why I would've had a read 'POSSIBLE ICE, & NO FOB OFF OR RUN' Spoke to Chevy & they never heard of that one, especially living in Calif, things aren't that cold.
Any Awnsers ????????? ( Or is it more or less the Fob Receiver )

"Possible ice" just because the outside sensor records a temperature of 36 deg. F or less. The sensor may be bad.
"NO FOB - OFF OR RUN" because the car couldn't find a fob within receiving range of the antennas in the car for that purpose. It always does that when you shut the car off and there's no fob in the car. You have 5 minutes to push the start button and restart the engine. If you don't, you can't start the car again until the car recognizes a matching fob in the car.
As a matter of fact I did try to start it within a couple minutes and it would not start. Things just shut down the battery went dead doors would'nt open and the volts read just above 8 volts. ( tried both Fobs )
The car had to be jumped again. Its fine now till next time.
I do have an appt on Monday at Chevy for them to check it out again now hopefully they will find something or just agree to replace the fob module.
Any advice on what I can tell them, or tell them to replace the module.
Really just want this resolved as everyone else out there with this problem.

If your car battery reads 8 volts, you'll get all sorts of strange behavior from the car's computer systems, odd messages, failure to recognize fobs, doors that won't open, etc. So the first thing you must do is get the battery charged. It should read 13.8 volts at full charge, 12.5 volts after the surface charge dissipates. Anything less than 11.5 volts, and expect bizarre behavior. If the battery won't accept and hold a charge, you need a new battery. If the car can't keep a known good battery charged, you need to get the car's charging system repaired.

My 08 had a similar issue. When I went to shut the car off it would read No FOB Detected. After sending the folks at Bowling Green an email I was told to make sure no cell phone chargers were plugged in with or without cellphones attached. The charger may cause interferance. I tried it and to thier credit it hasnt done it again.

Well I'm still having the same problem And took mine into the dealer today and will get it back on Wed. As it stands they're leaning to the fob module ( receiver ) that maybe bad, but they're checking the charging system first which they said " we'll have to keep it on the ck charging system for 12 hours. I'll keep you informed. Hopefully we'll get this fixed as it's a real pain.

Y ou can place your fob in the recptor in the glove box and your car will start even when your fob battery is dead. buttons should face drivers side.
had the same problem last week. Mine turned out to be the security system at the gas station.

Think you hit the problem on the head. I took out the car charger I had plugged into the console and haven't seen the error message since. Thanks for all your help everyone.
