I'm trying to decide which jacking pad/pucks to buy for my C6 and have read some of the recent threads on the BMW pads. Can someone who has the round BMW pads tell me how thick they are? Thanks!
Check out the metal pucks from "Elite Engineering". You only use them when lifting or jacking and then take them off. I store them in one of the rear storage compartments.
I'm not sure if this is right, but I was thinking the other day that the BMW pucks, which are left in place once they're installed, could protect your car from theft because they block the chain attaching points and prevent someone from pulling your car onto a flatbed truck.

These are the Best ! Forget the thin plastic BMW style. You want to protect your rockers. Save the Wave.>George
If someone just happens to be under their car today, could you measure the slot that the jacking puck goes into. Length and width. I'm going to make my own set out of hockey pucks, with "eye-bolts" to fit into the slots. My new VR, 3LT, F55, QG7 arrives in early February and I want to be ready!

I use the Sports Authority/Home Depot lifting pucks and leave them installed all the time. They blend in and unless you get down on your hands and knees, they really cannot be seen.
Get the 3/8" diameter eye bolts; they fit perfectly. Pre-drill the puck; screw the eye bolt in; done.

You mean the eye bolts stay in and don't vibrate out?
Also for you BMW jack pad people, are you able to get either the round or rectangle ones out in the event the car has to be towed or is it just a permenate install?
I bought the round ones, snapped them in two years ago, and they are still there. They are just tall enough to protrude beneath the rocker panels, but not so tall that they are noticeable in place. They will snap right out if needed.

Save yourself some time and effort and let your keyboard build a set of pucks for you. Do a search on eBay for Jacking Pucks & Bag and have them delivered to your door.

except they can pop them off in 10 seconds with a screw driver or pocket knife.

and not only would you lose your car, you would also be out some expensive jacking pucks...
At least I would only lose four hockey pucks and eye bolts...less than $10.00...
